@Nikos

Is it specific to USB or PS/2 mice, or does it happen with all types?

I had a similar problem because I copied a .prefs file from a previous distro. Usually copying prefs files is no problem on the same machine, but sometimes it can be. When I rebooted with the original file things went back to normal.

This is probably not your problem, but I thought I would mention it just in case.

Sometimes, I would say 1 out of 7, clicking left mouse onice dobble click. I have to reboot to get back to normal and if unlucky I have to reboot several times before working correct. It is hard to find a way to triger this behaviour.

I'm using ACER aspire one 110 and AspireOS. This behaviour is nothing new though. Been like this for looong time and happen on all kind of computers and distros. or night builds.
