Hi Domiino,

First of all (well, a bit late i guess) a very welcome here on the forums and thank you for having taken the time to register to be able to ask this question.

Mind you, janus emulation is not really my cup-a-tea, but afaik there are some general 'issues' with emulation.

As you can imagine, the original amiga games/demo where designed to run using a particular resolution. Amiga was bound to use those resolutions that where dictated by the particular chipsets the amiga used.

In that regards, having special graphics-cards on bigger amiga systems jumped into that gap, by providing higher/stranger/more commonly used resolutions, but at the same time rendered the same problem. As long as the game/demo is not written to make use of this new hardware, it will use the default gfx embedded in the amiga chipset.

Now, back to your original question.

You see those borders because the original resolution which the game requires, does not match your aros resolution (and so the emulator fills the gaps with black borders). In an ideal situation you should match your aros screen-resolution with the original amiga resolution as close as possible, in order to keep the borders to a minimum.

In a even more ideal situation, janus the emulator should 'scale' the amiga resolution to match the one on your aros machine, but afaik these techniques are either not fully available in janus or janus has problems rendering certain resolutions to match your aros resolution.

fwiw: You are not the only one asking these kind of questions, and a search on the forums does provide some hints (as f.e. here , people asking for a bit more compatible resolution supported for their aros gfx hardware, so that it matches up more nicely for use with janus).

And here you can read a question about scaling in vesa mode (which failed at the time the question was asked, because the particular functionality that was required, was missing in aros graphics functions).

Please do note that janus is in constant on/off development, and that sometimes there are other issues that deserves more attention than scaling (hence why things aren't perfect (yet)).

(as well as aros being in constant development, so might want to try (again) at a later date to see if things improved)

btw: although your choosen forums/thread is correctly placed, it does not show up on the front page, ergo, it sometimes take long time for people to notice these kind of threads (as i did now).

in the hope it was usefull.

I have succesfully installed AROS on my ASUS eee PC - Hooked it up to my 34" Screen, and it is running beautifully!

But... I wanna play some of my old Amiga Games via Janus-UAE. So I have added some ADF files to my Computer, and that works also ok....

I have some problems setting up my screen, no matter what I choose in resolution, fullscreen or windowed. The Emulator showes some large wide Borders.

I have up loaded some screenshots of my problem. Are anyone familiar with the problem?
