Hi all:

In fact, the main problem of Oan is that he will receive an Amiga 1200 Magic Pack but with strictly NO floppy disk or cd.

It's a basic A1200 with no HDD, no accelerator card, no cdrom drive and no floppies at all.

I'll take a look at my old floppies I still have but there is a very long time since it has been used :(

See you on FB Oan3 ;)

Ok Magorium, unfortunately I have great difficulty in understanding, google translator does not allow a proper dialogue between different languages, understand something only through experience. I am always delighted to speak with competent people.

Ok magorium, purtroppo ho grande difficolt? a capire, google translator non permette un giusto dialogo fra lingue diverse, si capisce qualcosa solo grazie all'esperienza. Mi fa sempre molto piacere parlare con gente competente.

Ah, yes that's more like it

Unfortunately that is also a not working

Quote:

fdrawcmd.sys
Write CBM disk in IBM floppy drive?
Disk2FDI

All three of those programs/drivers can only read an amiga-floppy-disks on a PC (that is, if it works for you at all).

Because of the somewhat out of the ordinary amiga-system there isn't a (standard) Intel-PC capable of writing amiga-floppies (correctly). Unfortunately it requires special PC hardware to be able to do so.

I never have come across standard PC-hardware capable of writing a floppy in such a way that it is amiga-compatible.

But ofcourse if there is something out there that works out-of-the-box then i keep an open mind

Your input is appreciated though, so thank you

Now that i've read the documentation of the TSGui utility i couldn't agree more with you

But the caveat is still -> no bootable floppy/HD with OS (read enough cli commands to create new disks) then you are (unfortunately) stuck.

There is not a single pc in the world which could change that. The only exception is having a (special) floppydisk controller that can access amiga floppydisks.

BTW: there is also a adf2disk commandtool on aminet.

Yeah, i noticed that a while later (that there could be old listings as well).
Sorry, but i didn't know the fench word for Amiga hobby club (or something similar). Sometimes a look in the phonebook (or online ofcourse) reveals such hobby-clubs.

I knew. Hence my winked smiley. It was just a little tease :shame:

There is not a better way to demonstrate that an A1200 is working than launching a demo, it's done for that : gfx, sound, special chipset use ...

In case the amiga does have an os (and you are allowed), or you are able to boot off a (prepared) floppy. Then you could always consider to send files over from pc to amiga with a serial null-modem cable. On aminet there are plenty of transfer tools (some require special cable and tools).

That way you've tested the serial port as well

Another tip in that regard might be to extract the floppy archive(s) to rad: disk and boot from it. If the demo is written well enough then that should work without the need for floppies. Again that requires an installed OS/bootfloppy to be able to transfer files and enough cli commands to be able to extract them to rad:.

And most of all : it's pure pleasure.

Yes, it is indeed

google translate actually got the french part right

You go, go, go . I hope it works out for you and are also able to find someone in your neighbourhood who can lend you a few amigadisks.

Good luck and don't hesitate to report back on what came out of it. By now, i'm anxious to know if you will succeed or not

regards,

There would be another system that I have tested, it seems that you can see on the Amiga WinUAE floppy driver with 2 internally connected on the motherboard of the PC, it only works the first floppy drive, the second is ignored even if present, read the enclosed link, to understand something more:

fdrawcmd.sys

Write CBM disk in IBM floppy drive?

Disk2FDI

Well just an old floppy Game (Amiga DOS), you just empty it, in old floppy game, almost always include the commands you need to work, in addition to those residents.

A floppy Amiga empty if it has been practiced install, you start with a shell, you can type commands.

TSGui is also compatible with the Kick 1.3 and requires very little memory to work in the movie is shown that an A600 with 1 Meg of RAM, can write an ADF.

-----------------------------------------------------

If you need to create a floppy with a real A1200

You are correct (ofcourse).

But according to his post (if i understood correcly), his problem is having an amiga without OS (and no other amiga around) ....

that's exactly that.

i'll try the address and phone numbers you gave me, but i don't count on it, i think most of those are inactive :(

to answer one of your previous questions, my village is Marseille, and is almost 1M people big :)

so, i did know most of the path to make an amiga disk, except the SAN-DISK installation trick. That is really nice.

What I want today is have a look to the capabilities of the amiga i'm waiting for, "without losing a penny" right now. There is not a better way to demonstrate that an A1200 is working than launching a demo, it's done for that : gfx, sound, special chipset use ...

And most of all : it's pure pleasure.

When I'll know that the amiga works well, i'll buy HD, pcmcia wireless network card, parnet cable, fast ram... , "et tout le toutim" to enhance it.

Cheers

@amiga:

I think we misunderstand eachother or i do not know what tsgui is

Quote:
To perform TSGui not need to have an operating system

Strange. When i look at the TSgui program on aminet it tells me:
Quote:
Requires: Amiga executables of GZIP (68K or PPC) and DMS
Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 1.2.0

And i guess it is an amiga executable.

Quote:
just format a floppy

How do you format a floppy in amigaformat without an amiga OS to actually perform a format command ?

Quote:
initialize it to make bottabile,

Same as previous answer.

Quote:
then back up and TSGui mathieeedoubbas.library.

How to copy that library onto disk ?

Quote:
Did this just start the floppy and run TSGui

The floppy is still not amiga bootable. Remeber it was not possible to write a bootblock to the disk in the first place becuase of the missing amiga OS.

Quote:
(can also create a Stratup-seqence).

Same answer as previous answer

Quote:
Another on a floppy would copy the ADF (if exceeds the 880k must break) and copy it to RAM (A1200 with 2 Mega Memory).

If all off the above would work then i agree with you

In a (miserable) attempt to make us understand eachother
The following is in your possesion or missing:
1. One amiga without OS. It does not boot, it does nothing when you turn it on, other then showing the bootscreen.
2. No bootfloppy to boot from
3. No Amiga Operating system.

Item 3 is solvable if not legit then otherwise.
Item 2 is impossible to solve without having a working amiga or a controller for the PC to write amiga-floppy
or
Item 2 is solvable by getting a HD, hook it up in the pc and prepare it with winUAE and/or appropiate tools.

Therefore item 1 is unsolvable.

Ofcourse i assume here that there is no HD/CD in his amiga and does not have another amiga. Why would he ask for a bootfloppy (and only a bootfloppy) otherwise ?

Or do you mean that with your solution:
- i can format a floppy on my pc (FAT12)
- write a bootblock to the floppy with my pc (again FAT12)
- download TSGUI from aminet and extract it
- copy TSGUI on the floppy
- put the disk in the amiga
- amiga automagically boots from prepared floppy ?

Sorry for any miscommunication (we seem to have that a lot )
