Re: How come!?!?

It was some time ago. I would say 6-8 months at least, maybe more. I don't know a "Core" dev from a "Crust" dev as far as Aros is conecered. I did learn to not ever suggest a lib or piece of software from anything other than an Amiga related system. I now just stay out of it. I don't go to IRC anymore, yada, yada, yada. But I will say to anyone who wants to suggest that a non Amiga based lib be ported, that they had best be prepared because the subject can get rather heated when all the "talk" gets started.
Now, I do regreat mentioning it. It is on old event and I reopened my own wound. I do not belive that having a discussion will benifit anyone. Yes, I know I started it. Now, I am ending it. |

It's plainly impossible that any of the core AROS devs has treated you that way. Don't bet on it. |

Perhaps it'll never get ported or used, but not because of "too many egos" as you like to put it, simply because no one will find time, interest or a reason to do so. Not everything you think is good has to be good for the AROS devs too. In any case, you'd be surprised to know that using the enlightenment libs has been considered aa a possibility by a few of us. We don't do more than we do because, simply put, we can't. Otherwise we would. If you want something done in any open source project, the best thing after asking for it is to do it yourself. Quote:

Yes, I have seen these screenshoots and videos before. There are very impressive. I do belive that they indeed were inspired by Amiga. I also think that it is LGPL which would in theroy make it compatiable with the APL.
Now for the catch. You will never, ever get an Aros dev to port any piece of it, at all. They just simply will not even consider it... Can you imagine Enlighent combined with Warnderer? That would be cool. But like I said, it will never happen. Too many egos.. We can only hope that they eventually create a complete Warnderer with some eye candy. Maybe in about 10-20 years or so.. At one time I thought of starting a bounty for doing something like that with the Enlightenment libs. They have created libs for making it more portable between platforms. You do not want to know just how poorly that was recived. There were some very mean and hateful things said...even directed at me because I dared to suggest it. I would stay completly away from it unless you enjoy getting the $hit verbally kicked out of you by the devs. Dave |

While I'm not used to Linux I was expecting far more responsivness (but then again I was touched by AmigaOS curse, so everything except AROS or MOS seems slow to me
) then the one shown in Enlightenment screenshots section. Even because they're supposed to show the best way possible their product.. (maybe a Linux problem(?))It has some good features though, maybe if aplyed to AROS they could benifit further, after all wasn't this WM inspired in Amiga? ![]() :: Enlightment D17 Video
