Thanks caveman, I took a look on arosworld and indeed it seems kinda .. quiet :D

Maybe a games subforum here in the board would be a good beginning. Who knows, maybe one day we'll expand it into a full-fledged gaming site? Until then, a board @aros-exec would be a good start. Is that possible @ admins ? I'd be willing to moderate it, so no additional work for you...

@ Landstalker

You could also check out ArosWorld.org

http://www.arosworld.org/news.php

It's a quiet site, but just might be interested in a games forum too.

I think it a great idea having a place where users can rate Aros Games. Actually it would be good (but perhaps sobering) to see user ratings for all Aros software. Maybe a 5 star system would work.

5 ? wow, 4 ? cool, 3 ? ok, 2 ? oops, 1 ? no way.

Or just a or rating.

Great idea. Good luck.

Well, if you would be able to set it up (I have no idea about web hosting / programming) I may be strongly interested in contributing! I'm sure there will be others that are willing to help as well.

In order to keep a clear profile I'd suggest that it concentrates on AROS only. At least for the beginning. Personally I'd prefer a classic website over a blog. There is a popular Macintosh abandonware site that does a good job and could be an example:

http://macintoshgarden.org/

The games are divided into different genre. Every game has its own page where it is introduced (by screenshots and text) and can be downloaded. People may also add comments. New uploads can be made by every registered member, which makes it a very dynamic archive independent from the free time of the admins or mods. (a few mods overlook all the additions anyway)

For AROS that would mean e.g. that people porting games could immediately upload their ports to the website. We could have a "recent additions" page that would be great for keeping an eye on latest news. Thanks to the upload function, programmers could even upload their updated versions once they are ready.

What do you think about something like that?

Apart from the website project - can we anyway have a games forums here in the boards? Even if the site / blog goes online, we may still integrate the games forums into the page by setting a link to here?

I was already thinking to a blog-like website about AROS (and others Amiga-like OSes) games, but I have absolutely no time left for another hobby project.

Sounds good to me.

However, I dream about having a Demo Scene version that is really busy with amazing feats of coding showing off Aros and the OpenGL system we have available now.

Dear admins,

one proposal: With increasing releases, wouldn't it be a great idea to add a dedicated games subforum to the board?

It would be a wonderful place to discuss all the latest AROS game releases. Programmers could introduce their latest ports / games and newcomers looking for information on games for AROS will get a good overview on what's available.

What do you think?
