HaHa Put a smile on my face, three new platforms for an unfinished OS. Oh well, back to iMIca work. Unfortunately I will not say much until the bits are ready but iMica will go the full distance. Lets hope that when the product you all say you want comes along that you get behind it and buy one. I always find the ones that moan the most don't back there wishes anyway with money. Just kidding, don't take offence.

I think at least people are trying to support aros with some hardware, but I do think people are rushing into things before aros is ready.
If they did release a system on a custom motherboard with everything built in on one board, accellerated graphics, network/wif-fi, and supported sound THEN I may be interested, This is alot more work as far as drivers than taking off the shelf parts.. I would be especially interested in a board like that if it was a small board... Otherwise, I'll make my own thanks... Steven

Wow! How times change so quickly...
...Imica was kind of an Aros standard - for like 2 days! Now we have Imica, AresOne and a system I am working on. I will call this system GADHA after the egyptian god of brain farts. :) GADHA stands for Generic Aros Driverless Hardware Architecture. It will consist of a mother board with onboard network (not supported), onboard sound (not supported), onboard cpu (only one core supported), onboard gfx (supported... in vesa mode), and usb 2.0 (only 1.0 supported). Then I will disable everything on the mb and install a gfx card, sound card and network card. I will then sell two units, ditch the system and bring out a new one (with even less hardware support) two days later. The direction hardware support in Aros is taking is so comical that if I didnt laugh I'd cry. Anywho, this post was in jest, so I welcome any witty/funny replies, but I dont want to hear from any doofus on their high horse that takes offence when someones opinion/perception is at odds with their own. :)

I believe writing a wireless driver, including security protocols, is quite difficult. We can probably scratch that idea for the near future.
However, as a fellow Imica owner/user, I believe that the Imica hardware is, at the moment, the only 'standard' that has been put forth, so a native video driver for it would be nice. Also, a driver for the onboard sound would be nice as this would free up the only PCI slot in the system for other uses. Lastly, dual core support for the Atom would be, again, nice. THe Imica is a wonderfully small, low cost platform that runs Aros quite well. With Dual core support and onboard sound and graphics support, it would run Aros at a blistering speed, at a low cost and could be considered a basic platform for Aros X86. Just my thoughts...

Here's my wishlist for a next generation iMica.
1.) HDMI output (my lcd panel tv doesn't have computer 15pin SVGA or a DVI input, but does have hdmi and component inputs). HDMI seems to be the popular input option for plasma/lcd tvs here. HDMI output is usually a sign the video card has the ability to properly display blu-ray content (under vista with appropriate software), so I think that's a logical starting point for a modern "multimedia amiga-ish" computer. 2.) A device and program to read amiga floppies. It could be a PCI card, but the form factor doesn't seem to allow too many options there, for example a digital tv tuner card would use up the one slot that is currently used with a soundblaster sound card. I don't know if anyone has made a USB floppy drive that will read the old Amiga floppy format, but something is needed if I were to purchase old commercial software packages off ebay (for example professional page and musicx with their original manuals) to run under emulation. 3.) Wireless network. Its not always convenient to run network cables where you want them.
