I just wanted to list some of the issues I got installing 1.1.1 and using some of the programs.

1. I used the update function to update from 1.1 to 1.1.1. The Iconx window showed, at a certain moment, a message like IF: unknown command. After that the installation skipped several steps and completed. Rebooting system was not working. I reboot from the CD and copied with Dopus the files manually. Now it works even if with some miss functioning. I will reinstall everything from scratch when 1.1.2 will be available.
2. Dopus works fine if you boot from CD booting from hard disk buttons are not working. Unusable!
3. GRUB I installed from scratch the system 3 times (one night built in November, VMaros 1 and the Icaros1.1 all native version with MS$ partition too. To configure chainload all 3 times it has been a nightmare. Each time the working GRUB commands to run W$ were different! The one working on the previous installation (on the same environment) was not working in the new one. Uncomprehensible!
4. game Lopan works fine at 32bpp booting at 16bpp it open just a grey window. at 32 bpp if you have OWB open and then you open it system freezes.
5. OWB works fine but I miss a favourite function!

There are other that at the moment I don't remember!

Sandro

If you quit aros-start (the one in the button of screen on desktop), dopus buttons will work.

Or you might go to dopus settings, and select in screenmode, use dopus on same screen as wb.

Yes, and that's why I'm considering to place vital AROS files in a sys:Backup drawer when updating Icaroswith Updater. Maybe I'll add this feature in the next version of the script.

Do you mean that the newer nvidia driver has been fixed and is safe to use one from the current nightly builds? And the same for the kernel? Is now safe to use it on IcAROS?

Nvidia driver is the same for Icaros Desktop 1.1, 1.1.1 and 1.1.1b. I don't know how upgrading to the same file can lead to different behaviors.

Kernel is different.

I din't mean you should use the version provided by the nightly build, but more simply one that worked for you. Is nightlies nvidia.hidd working on your machine? Well, use that. If it doesn't, boot up in a VESA mode and replace it again.

Current kernel in nightlies has some dangerous code inside, which might harm partitions on non-Intel chipsets. But if it works for you (you said so, or at least I understood that way), use it.

About the driver, that should do the trick, just copy the old in another folder,in case and rename it. for the kernel if paolo says so i trust him.

Well, unluckily I had discovered that the newer version of this driver are incompatible with some cards that worked before, including my own GeForce 7800. So I'm still using an older one that at least works. To fix this, just take the nvidia.hidd file from any current build and replace it in the drivers: drawer. Just do the same thing for the kernel, if you wish. About TCPPrefs, you have to ask qus for explanations.

why the title of the TcpIP editor is "proba"?

It means "attempt", because this was my "attempt to code in AROS", my first MUI/AmigaOS program ever. I never changed the name, though. Sorry. I will recompile it for next release.

Yesterday I've upgraded to 1.1.1 and all seemed to work right. Except for the screen shifted to the right, the fonts blurred (I have a 1440x900 lcd monitor) and the mouse with changing colours... i mean... it changes colour on some areas of the gui. For example if I move the mouse over the box where i'm writing into, it becomes blue and I can see the text in reverse mode. It happens with the "new" kernel of 1.1.1b. With that kernel I must use "nodma" to boot... with 32bit it stops to a black screen. I haven't tried to boot with "nopci". Maybe I should install the old 1.1.0 kernel again. Ah... why the title of the TcpIP editor is "proba"?
