Regina on AROS should provide the same functionality as ARexx on classic AmigaOS. At the moment you should already be able to send commands to ARexx ports. There are still some ARexx specific functions missing in regina though; only the ones documented in the OS3.1 books are implemented at the moment.

Actually, the bounty is for dbus, which is considerably more complex and useful than ARexx. I was just using ARexx as an example that many Amigans would understand about the basic concept. Like I said, I can see it eventually getting done, but most programs won't use it. Shoot, even on Linux most things don't make use of dbus, and that's its parent system.

So its basically like when arexx is used to command one program from another via the arexxports?
does this feature of arexx exist in regina or is it only static commandscripts that works?

Doesn´t sound very exciting, not like apples old opendoc where the document was supposed to be in the center that more of a objectoriented approach which did sound good.

Inter Process Communications. Basically, allowing programs to talk to each other. While some people have an "Oh, WOW!" reaction to that, it's NEVER caught on in over 30 years. Some systems do okay for short periods, but eventually fade into obscurity. Think of it like ARexx was on AmigaOS - some minor success, but mostly ignored by the majority of programs.

IPC just doesn't work because programs are written to do the task the programmer has in mind, not a hundred other things. Why do I need to support IPC in my NES emulator? What good is it for my calculator app? The majority of programmers don't care, and neither do the majority of users.

As such, there are far more important things on the to-do list for AROS that should be concentrated on first. IPC will come eventually and will help make some programs better, but it's one of those features that can wait. No one is screaming for it like networking.

Question on one of the Bounties

Ok, Captian Stupid here. What is an IPC bridge? What will that do for AROS? I am about ready to donate to a bounty again and I am trying to decide if I want to donate to an existing one or start one for one of the many things I would like to see. I have no idea what this is or what it will do.
