Well, it is also a matter of the quality of the glasses. I'm not that impressed by the quality of the PS4 glasses.
The res. on top of that is not full HD as PS4 have problems to cope with that. If you look at a screen that has very high res. but the contrast is low and the colors are wrong it will not impress. Much like most LCD panels. There are many opinions about fps. How many fps to you think you can see in 1 sec? Motion sickness you can even have in real life ;)

GTX 1080 / RX Vega 56 cards, which are the most affordable high-end choices nowadays, can provide enough power to burst 90-120 frames per second on a 1920x1080 screen, or even on a 2560x1440 one (please divide by 2 the horizontal size to get the per-eye resolution).
