Yesterday I wanted to install SSD drive to my AROS laptop.
When I ran installer I got error messages trying to format the drive. I then discovered that as installer used IDE or ata.device for DH0 and DH1 but as I found out in HD tool-box SSD drive was set to ahci.device.
I tried to change to ahci.device in the installer but all I got trying to format was "disk is full".
Next up was BIOS. I turned off SATA support and then the SSD showed up as IDE "ata.device" and I could format with AROS installer.
After this I went back to BIOS and enabled SATA. The drive in AROS was now using ahci.device again and I could install AROS to it. Problem was after some use, copying files, sector errors etc. started to show up so was not working good. I then went back to legacy IDE turned off SATA and installed AROS and everything working good since. Amazing speed with my new Kingston 120GB SSD. Just wanted to report this for others trying to install SSD drive as it was not trouble free.
Thankfully I could turn off SATA in BIOS but I guess that might not be possible on all mashines. For sure would be great if this got fixed and for what I know it could work good on other hardware. The aros-installer should maybe at least choose the right device as it does with USB and IDE.
