(My apologies for the DP: AndoridOS--aye, I know it's dreadful--doesn't like your 'edit post' form...

To clarify: A port to AROS would be easier, given the endian-nature of the other libs involved, as they were all designed for i386.

The way that I phrased the former post makes it seem as if all hope is lost, but it's quite the opposite. I apologise for that: It was entiely my fault for choosing that language.

While supporting multiple platforms is killing me at present, I would prefer to support as many users, and potential users as possible, so...

...I won't ignore the possibility of compiling for this platform, but, as understaffed as 'm, the chances of releasing something spectacular (subjective), is flimsy.

Only time shall decice, or rather, libs compiling without betterment; wresting from them all hope for life; seems an issue too remote to ponder.

It's nice to know that this OS project remains onghoing, though, and all coders, contributors, aqnd testers deserve a pint or two in praise. :D

Ah.

I asked, mainly because Allegro started on the Amiga playform.

My dev time these days is dedicated to an Allegro game project, and I thought thatbit would be amusing to make it usable on AROS, but my time is sadly limited, and fighting with Allegro, compilers, and our sources is not a tivial task.

If anyone is interested in assisting, feel free to send a PM to me.

The AOS4 port would use the inappropriate endian base for AROS (PPC versus i386).

It is available, and there's also a MorphOS port which doesn't have the P96 dependency, that could be ported to AROS.

There was a port of Allegro 4.x for AmigaOS 4.x but I don't remember if the source was ever made available. Allegro 5.x doesn't work on any Amiga-like OS yet.

I am curious: What is the liklihood that the most recent Allegro 4 libs (4.4 and 5.x) could be compiled to run on AROS?

They're primarily used for Linux stuff, but there is some various in-built support for misc. OSes.
