A recoverable RAM disk would be nice, but I'd make sure the Early Startup Menu had an option to kill it to avoid potential problems.
I don't see how it would serve as protected memory. A program would have to store all it's temporary data in files on it, and even then they would still be vulnerable to other apps until user access rights were added to the filesystem.

Sometime ago and while talking about the recoverable RAM disk @ amigaworld.net AmigAlex talked about vdisk, a recoverable ram disk which has adjustable size.
If such a device could be made on AROS, you could have the live edition on RAM allowing the user to have a greater degree of control on reboots, you could have a recoverable system where the things last were before the crash... kind of memory protection. When a program ends on a memory protected envirnoment it takes all of his processes with him, that work is lost, while the others remain... this pattern would also happen this way, only with a boot up in the middle.. Any thoughts?
