@Paolo

I finally took a look at the experimental distro. And when opening GrafX2, I get an error message (illegal instruction).

Also, there seems to be two copies of the OpenGL demo litu. One in demoscene and the other in OpenGL demos.

I found Skunks in OpenGL dir, but it's not OpenGL, it plays fine in VESA mode on most machines. GeoFace runs pretty good in VESA too (although it is OpenGL).

Btw, there is an update to metaDiary, in the Aros-archives.

I noticed that gettext stuff seems to be working again, hooray

Thanks for the preview!

I hadn't even noticed there was a command 'rexx' as well as 'rx'. What is the difference (aside from the fact rexx works...)?

That likely won't work for all scripts. rexx is the original regina interpreter thus mimicing the Linux command line interface. rx is a command mimicing the AmigaOS interface going through rexxsyslib.library

Hi Neil,
I need to learn to look a little bit more closely... Yes, I've just tried launching the script with rexx rather than rx and it worked! I hadn't even noticed there was a command 'rexx' as well as 'rx'. What is the difference (aside from the fact rexx works...)? Is it worth renaming 'rexx' to 'rx' so any old Amiga users coming to AROS don't fall down the same hole I did?

Anyway, many thanks - I can use my rexx scripts again!

Cheers,
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

Unfortunately, I still can't reproduce the crash. Because this is quite weird, I'll list the steps I took in mind-numbing detail:

1. Booted the latest Icaros test ISO in Q (QEmu for Mac).
2. Opened the text editor from the AmiStart dock.
3. Typed in the script as you described.
4. Saved it as T:f.rexx.
5. Opened a shell from the Icaros menu of DOpus5.
6. CD T:
7. rexx f.rexx
8. The output is the normal output of C:List.

I do however get a crash if I use RX instead of REXX. Which command are others using?

Sure - it's a Netgear WG111v2 with RTL8187.

I just searched for WG111v2 on ebay and got lucky with the chipset I guess!

Hi, since many people ask me about a USB wifi dongle which works with Icaros, would you be so kind to tell us what model, brand and chipset is using your one?

thank you soooo much

@ntromans

Thanks for testing.

It's possible that the bug in the rexx interpreter is causing it to try and allocate a ridiculous amount of memory, triggering the memory handlers to be called in an effort to produce more free memory and then aborts when the request can't be satisfied.
