As long as a project has not been assigned to a developer yet and all donors agree, it is still possible to alter a bounty description.

I fixed typos and added some clarification regarding standard icons, unsnapshotting, and drag imagery. Use them if you want

======================================

Workbook is a minimalistic desktop for AROS 68k. Today its usability is quite limited. This bounty aims at extending the available functions to become a replacement of Workbench as found in AmigaOS 3.1.

The bounty will be completed when these functionalites are available in Workbook:

* Support standard AmigaOS3.1 .info files
* Manually position & snapshot/unsnapshot icons and windows
* Drag & drop icons to copy/move (the icon being moved must be shown below the mouse pointer while dragging occurs)
* Make new directories
* Delete files & directories
* Rename files & directories
* View/edit file information/tooltypes
* Leave out/put away
* Make Show All Files/Show Only Icons work as per description

This functionality needs to be available in the ROM version of Workbook, that is booting a disk only containing the LoadWB command will allow usage of Workbook with these functionalities.

Additionaly the following functionalities can be added at the discretion of the developer:

* Support for the Tool menu
* List-view mode (view + manage files as in icon mode)

These functionalities are not required to mark the bounty as completed.

@All

I moved the List view mode to optional requirements. With the space limited in ROM I prefer to get one mode (icon) working as it should.

I think that the Amiga o.s 3.1 Workbench should be taken as a "benchmark" for Workbook's improvements: the latter should provide at least the same features set.

Of course, if something more can be added which fits into the 1MB ROM space, it's welcome.

one fits all does not work...

look how different distributions are on 3.X

you have differences in colours you can display, icons you can display and depending on the resources you can do things on one platform you cannot do on another.

thinking again about workbook as desktop for aga/ecsocs and what feature would perhaps be useful i come to think of some concept for vertical scalling for icons, window frames, bars and menus. this because if we keep the same aspect for interlace and non-interlace screens the desktop looks distorted and we lose a lot of space on non interlace. perhaps its too much to demand.
