did you ever do MacOS emulation? If you did, do you remember when the "MacOS emulator community" was in... well, too much excitement over the fact that somebody announced a PPC emulator? And then the following Big Disappointment when they never delivered.

Or when that one emulator was finally able to boot and run MacOS 8.1 (instead of just System 7.5.5)? That was fun and exciting.

Or when Frodo64 (it was called something like that) was "announced" and finally able to boot and play commercial games.

Welcome to AROS-exec! Glad you managed to to sort out your install issues. Like yourself, and I guess most people here, I'm an old Amiga user too and I hope you find, like myself, that AROS is like coming home.

hello welcome

I jumped in already and made a mess of the help forum. But I did get help and fixed the major AROS/ICaros problems. A big thanks to the mods, who by now must think I'm a total loon. To tell the truth, I'm a looney hobbyist who should be spending time writing his next book. My hobby is to pretend I'm a systems programmer. I love installing emulations of as many different operating systems that I can. Emulations inside of emulations are especially cool. Currently, I write rules for out of print Role Playing Game Systems, but at one time, I was a COBOL programmer, and held a bunch of other IT titles at one time or another in my life. My personal computer for many years, however, was an Amiga3000 with a warp 040/40 and more than a few bells and whistles to impress the windows98 folks. It broke down back in 2002 and I was forced to buy a winxp machine. I was immediately trying UAE and other methods to retrieve my lost A3000. The machines were almost capable, but not quite, and the effort often met with limited successes and gigs of hard drive space taken up by experimental hardfiles and adf's. Well, times change, and I now have a modern win8.1 machine with some bells and whistles so it runs like win7, and I'm running the latest VMware. Either way, it's starting to feel like the hardware and software are finally converging the way the Gateway Amiga company said it would back in '99. I still have a few issues with Icaros/AROS/Magellan (It's hard to tell where one leaves off and the other starts sometimes), :) but in general, the hobbyist in me is enjoying toying with it. This post is not to talk about the system, but I may start jotting down all of my questions, issues and error messages in a more professional way if I play with it enough. If I do I will post them, maybe there is a solution and my observations and failed attempts will help in some small way.
