Until the MorphOS replacement becomes Open Source AHI remains the common denominator.
Linux hosted ist the most important AROS version for me hence I'm willing to pay some bucks to have noise again

iirc morphos is replacing ahi maybe it would make sense to collaborate on a replacement for ahi vs adapting ahi for one driver. :)

OK, I had to enable it with "pavucontrol":
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Connecting_to_TV_Monitor

Well, if the AROS Alsa driver uses that setting I don't need support for multible sound cards.

OK, I'll use that as Bounty description.

I contacted Michal last year and offered some money for a alsa driver but as usual life circumstances blocked him.

Alsa is ok.

I am definitely interested in arm compatibility.

I would not limit the bounty by defining it as a replacement of oss.library. Honestly I never understood why this library is in place and the driver talks to it instead of OSS directly.

I would word it:

Create an AHI driver that enables sound output on Linux hosted AROS platforms via the Alsa system. If necessary adapt AHI.

On the question of multiple cards: I don't know if AHI can handle multiple identical cards (that's how it will be seen, there are all going to be "alsa" cards). I'd go for automatic selection of first in the driver with possibility to override via kernel line parameter.

It must at least support 32-bit (both ABIv1 and v0) and 64-bit (ABIv1).

AHI preferences must have the same options is it currently has with oss.library.

-----------------------

Another question came up: what if there is more than one sound card in the system? Should it be selectable by AHI prefs?

TBH I'm not personally familiar with how that stuff is implemented currently. I would think that AROS doesn't speak with the devices directly but just "outputs" to the host system, so it would be up to the host system where the audio is played.
