First of all, a tremendous THANK YOU to all the folks involved in bringing AROS to the world.

As a child of the 80's (actually 70's) I grew up with the C64 and an Amiga 500. I'm sure the story is a familiar one so I'll try to keep it short, but needless to say I have very fond memories of my Amiga, even though I almost never really used it to do anything productive.

I loved my commodores as a kid, but when Commodore disappeared off the scene in the early 90's and we were left with those crappy IBM compatibles with their pathetic 16 colour displays and stupid little beep speaker, I decided that computers were no longer for me. I could not fathom how people would prefer such a stupid, overpriced box of crap over a machine as brilliant as the Amiga.

As a result I didn't touch a PC for the next four years, unfortunately these were my university years, which probably had fairly profound implications for my career...

Four weeks ago I discovered Icaros, and now I'm on a retro computing bender. I am delighted to see that a system/community/religion/movement that I had written off as dead for 20 years is actually alive and well. Wow, how did I miss that? There is so much to catch up on.

Anyway, thanks again to eveyone involved. I'm typing this on my new dedicated AROS box and I'm looking forward to exploring this world I'd left behind. Maybe I'll even manage to make myself useful.
