Welcome back! =o)

well, as you are looking on zune, here are somes things that coulde make sense:
- there are 3 mcc projects on sourceforge (so if someone is porting mcc, could do that too...i think it should be the same routine)
- i test the cycloid iconlister and i think it could be merged (maybe add auto-update after window resize and a better margin space on the grid, cause truncate filename)
- post the pics...i love to cry! :'(

PS: couldnt it be reused in intuition instead of zune (due the design issues)?

mmm themes...

hehe yeah we would all appreciate them, even those that say they wouldnt.

Everyone likes to tweak their gui to look and feel how they like it, and no doubt it will come in good time with aros.

As bloodline said, i started work on a personal themeing project with the following goals..

A> Zune would do the generation of the window borders/ gadgets - giving us all the flexability of its great layout engine and rendering. The actual themeing engine would really be zune and its prefs system, with 2 new classes to handle the window itself and its contents.

B> Intuition would be made to know of zune (at some later stage when the main classes etc worked). IPrefs would basically tell intuition everything is go, so switch to the zune code. From that point on Intuition would retrieve the data for the windows (image data, sizes etc.) from the Zune classes.

Now i spent a lot of hours working on the main 2 classes with much input from a lot of the devs (including reez - the guy behind Zune ;) - who i might add is quite apposed to this way of doing it.. but ill come to that in a bit)

After many failed attempts i got a basic working theme engine for the window borders but thats where i ran into problems that are possibly to much to take on.

I couldnt understand why certain things werent behaving how i expected them until i managed to grab reez and get some good explenation. Fabio also helped a lot.

Basically though, for Zune to be the Theming engine would require quite a bit of work on its internals. From what i can gather from both reez and fabio though - is that the required changes would be quite the opposite of the way that zune is designed to work.

The other problem i encountered was how to revert the changes i had made for the themed window components - so that the normal content looked how you had specified in the prefs. I couldnt work out how, and always ended up with them having the same settings as my border components.

I still think it is the best engine for the job - since it is doing exactly what a theming engine needs - but the design problems seem to big for me.

i was talking about What you can do...not the theme itself but the sliders, borders...in zune prefs we have lot of it...but for the boopsi it is missing (i didnt see).

is any downpoint in use zune for erverything? and than have special prefs for system windows, sliders, borders, titlebars and gadgets (or widgets, i never know the difference)

Zune can be part of the kernel with AROS (if it isn't already), so any rewrite of Wanderer should use Zune for all the Workbench windows and gadgets. It would certainly make it easier to support more advanced features.

Well that would be way cool! A bit like Wanderer or at some degree Scalos... I wonder if anyone of those could be used in AROS.

Uh, pardon my French, but that is just plain butt-ugly! Wood frame windows?? And that background pattern for Workbench... ugh....

That's why themes are so nice... everyone can go with what THEY think looks best. I would run Windows before using that theme if it were mandatory.
