Following is a list of items encountered with latest openRA (462 R2) and of which those items influence the gameplay and/or gameexperience.

Although the second item is of no concern for 1.5.2 icaros, it might be interresting to look at as it seems to share a resemblance with item 3.

Besides these items there are several other small issues, but they do not seem to affect gameplay directly. Some are interface related issues (like the mouse trail on left and right side of game-window) but also things like alerts/crashes when you 'disturb' the main menu too much (f.e. clicking exit game while a sample is played when mission ended). Atm I consider those of no importance because they can be easily avoided and do not directly influence gameplay.

Item 1: Tesla coil alarm sound

Affected distro/mode:
1.4.5 - affects both single mission and skirmish mode
1.5.2 - affects both single mission and skirmish mode
experimental - impossible to test (*)

steps to reproduce:
1 - start openRA
2 - start a "new game" or "skirmish"
3 - play the game and walk into a tesla coil from opponent
4 - recoverable alert requester shows
5 - press continue button on requester to continue game.

Temporary workaround:
Do not walk towards enemies tesla coil and trigger its alarm. Besides avoiding the annoying requester it will also prevent your unit from being destroyed

Additional data: see pictures posted earlier by me. If needed i can produce pictures and/or logs for both 1.4.5 and 1.5.2.
Please also note that 1.4.5 and 1.5.2 produces slightly different stacktrace, but the bug is the same.

Item 2: Nodding donkey freeze - Trigger_event_low_power

Affected distro/mode (only able to test mission mode):
1.4.5 - Affects mission mode.
1.5.2 - does not affect mission mode. There is no error.
experimental - impossible to test (*)

steps to reproduce:
1 - start openRA
2 - start a "new game" as allie
3 - play the game and make your way towards Nodding Donkey
4 - destroy Nodding Donkey
5 - When the Nodding Donkey gets destroyed debugoutput last line reads:
HandleGlobalTrigger with event=TRIGGER_EVENT_LOW_POWER param=1
6 - Game freezes, no error requester.

Temporary workaround:
Do not destroy the Nodding Donkey

Additional data: None atm. because of the freeze ? no logfile is available ?
If wanted a picture of the destroyed nodding donkey + conwindow when the game is frozen can be posted.

Item 3: Destroy last building freeze - Trigger_event_low_power

Affected distro/mode (only tested in skirmish mode):
1.4.5 - Affects skirmish mode.
1.5.2 - Affects skirmish mode.
experimental - impossible to test (*)

steps to reproduce:
1 - start openRA
2 - start a "new game" as allie (i also put in name and selected france)
i selected map from top of list.
3 - Anihalate the enemy
4 - when last building gets destroyed debugoutput last line reads:
HandleGlobalTrigger with event=TRIGGER_EVENT_LOW_POWER param=1
5 - Game freezes, no error requester.

Temporary workaround:
Do not destroy last building from opponent

Additional data: None atm. because of the freeze ? no logfile is available ?
if wanted a picture of the destroyed last building + conwindow when the game is frozen can be posted.

All items mentioned in this list are 100% reproducable for me.

* OpenRA freezes aros (and in the end soft resets aros) when "new game" or "skirmish" is selected from the main menu (which is correctly displayed and otherwise seems to work correctly) and after things like selecting allies/sovjet or skirmish map is selected. So i cannot report or check further on that. I do seem to have logs on that, if they are necessary. I personally do not consider the problems of openRA on icaros experimental of importance because experimental icaros is just that, experimental (and keeps on changing).

Hopefully i've given enough information to make some sense and so you can work with it. In case of questions or otherwise, then please do not hesitate to ask.

Good luck, and thanks in advanced for looking into this serk118uk :appreciated:

post addition history:
1 - added item 2 and 3
2 - tested on exeprimental addition + finishing off post

Tried latest download in Vesa mode and also Nvidia mode with OpenGL (sorry I can't test IntelGMA). But I'm still getting the same error as the jpeg Magorium posted above, with both 'start new game' and 'skirmish'.

Thank you very much for another attempt serk118uk :appreciated:

Unluckily, i need to go to do some groceries (amongst others) so won't be able to test within first hour (or two) but will do asap when returned.

red:
in order to test all (1.4.5/1.5.2 and experimental) and make proper reports/pictures and logs for you i need more time, so i will probably post my findings tomorrow. sorry for any inconvienence.

i apologise magorium + deadwood for saying "i(not you mag) have not tryed deadwoods iso yet" to try if works better or not.

Aah, yes. it can be interpreted that way as well. No need for apologies .

What is/was confusing for me, however, was the mentioning of a new parameter in the equation. It confused me (and i presume made deadwood frown his eye-browse as well ).

works ok with my current icaros 1.5.2 + recent nighty updated.

In which case i honestly wonder, if there is any point for me testing on 1.4.5 and/or 1.5.2 ?

If wished then i can download a nightly every day and test, but (imho) that does not make it easier for you to debug.

E.g. you tested on icaros updated with nightly from 10/11/2013 while i tested with icaros updated with nightly from 12/11/2013, which imo only leads to more 'noise'.

That is also the reason, why i deliberatly do not test things on experimental releases and/or nightlies by default.

Because in the end (and in this particular case) the game (openRA) still refuses to run properly on plain icaros 1.5.2 (at least on my default setup and in vesa mode, which i presume is fairly common), which is a) really a shame and b) defacto standard distro on which people will try to play this game ?

So i am a bit in limbo concerning what to do here (or what is expected from me at this point).

anyway sorry again if I am the fire starter here..

The days are getting shorter and last night i experienced the first night-frost for this winter, so perhaps a warm cozy fire is not a bad thing after all. Marshmallow, any-one ?

Hi deadwood.

Ofcourse that is misleading !

Sorry, but by lack of better wording: where in heavens name did i expressed to be using 1.5.2 experimental for testing OpenRA or any other (by me) mentioned program (in this thread) ?

I have not done such a thing, ever ! (*)

So, if something i wrote gave you or anyone else that impression then i apologize, but also please let me know what made you think so (RLY).

(*): i've tested (and reported accordingly) openRA (and snapit) on icaros 1.3.3, 1.4.5, 1.5.2 and aspireos 1.98.
