I was thinking the same thing. If there isn't a Cygwin port, it wouldn't be too hard to do. It wouldn't be as good as a dedicated Windows hosted version, but it would do for most folks.

I believe there was once a CYGWIN port of AROS, to run it hosted on windows.

I think it's still around somewhere in the CVS.

PS- I've been using VMWare for some testing through Windows, are any chances of running AROS hosted in Windows in a near future as it is already done on Linux?

There has been talk of setting up a bounty for hosted AROS on Windows, but it has yet to materialized. I think it would be a good thing actually, gives more people a chance to take a poke around AROS coding.

Other than something like aweb, I don't really know of anything else.

There's the like of PPaint, some shareware image processors... there's plenty of good software on 68k, give it a good integration with AROS and AROS with Windows (at least as far as filesystems are related), and for once *I* could start giving a rest on WinUAE...

I don't think such a feature is very important at this stage of development, mainly because I don't see many amiga software that is usefull to the new os.

Other than something like aweb, I don't really know of anything else.

i agree the standalone works fine...but there is talking on how merge aros emulation on aros, and thats is all the flame about, shared memories, native versus emulated and so on...in the www.aros.org there is lot of ideias concern that....i think it is nice a good support for the emulation...but i dont think it is needed so much attention on that...(it would be a nice toy, but not a MUST for the OS...imho)

just to warm the brain lets take the demo reel from newtek, how it could be run in other mode than the Full emulation!?!?!?

I don't understand why we need to integrate UAE. It's fine as a standalone program. Could UAE simply not launch when you click on an ADF file for example.

Wouldn't this be a much simpler solution.

For the sake of portability I would suggest going with a threaded code m68k emulator. There has been some talk about adding m68k support to QEMU. If it happens you should probably use their code over UAE's core.
