Vesa driver has only one screenmode and it is determined at boot time, generic EDID parser would not change that.

This is good .... if this are the same for the vesa driver to autodetect possible monitor modes allowing to the vesa driver to change resolution via screenmode preference icon :)

Noveuau doesn't change correctly the resolution on icaros desktop 1.4.2 .

On Icaros 1.2.5 should work on geforce 9600gt and acer S19HQLGB at all resolutions.

On Icaros 1.2.5 on acer G195HQV frequency is out of range.

In icaros desktop 1.4.2 works well with 640x480 but when i change resolution graphical problems occurr.

@DizzyOfCRN:

I think I have the same problem on my PB also - theres absolutely no debug (had to copy the nightly binaries). Probably a gcc optimization issue since I use gcc 4.6 for all builds.

On my PB Nouveau doesn't even start... It's a shame as it is one of the best drivers we have.

Lenovo Thinkpads or else seem to be a bit problematic. My Thinkpd X61t with X3100 chipset has 2D support, but not 3D. Another member in this forum has the same problem. Audio also isn't working on my X61t, although the driver is detected. And on my 9 year old IBM Thinkpad A31p only the gfx card has some problems, so I have to use VESA. I'm using noveau.hidd on the x61t and bearsoft's radeon driver on the A31p.

It would be great if somebody could take care of it because the IBM/Lenovo Think#? series are one of the most frequently used laptop series. They are also interesting for retro uses because they are the extremely expandable laptops featuring a real disk drive to read and write non-standard disk formats.

nouveau.hidd seems to have problems with some monitors.

e.g Lenovo Thinkvision L200p can only be used with vesa/vga modes since the native option results in only the boot kernel log being displayed up until I2c init, and then nothing else appears to happen. Tested with 5 different nvidia chipsets (including 2 quadro cards) all with the same result.

Launching the nvidia monitor after booting in vesa mode displays messages about EDID checksum errors in sashimi.

Testing with a v7 r19w11 monitor works fine.
