I'd say magorium's approach in the following bug report is a textbook example on how to convey the required information: http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=61581#forumpost61581 So following this example, I'd suggest posting about Zune bugs using the following headings (and include screenshot(s) if possible): Target OS, Action(s), Fault(s), Reproducible, Suggestion, Remark

I assume this thread is in response to my suggestion of about a week ago (which I think maybe most people missed?)
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=62324#forumpost62324 While it's probably a little more difficult to do in the same vain as the paper cuts (although some fixes could be done as normal bugfixes, ergo papercuts), an organised effort could be of quite some help to anyone who decides to work on the zune bounties. Best plan of attack here in my opinion is for "normal" users to report back zune related problems with software, which could then be examined/analyzed by users with more knowledge and an organised "report" on zune issues be kept somewhere. I actually had the idea a few months ago (when paper cuts initiative 1st began), but purposely didnt mention it until a week ago, as it has the potential to unfocus the normal paper cuts. |

I like this idea to, I just don't think it is reasonable to think that Deadwood and some of the other guys will jump on this vagon too in the near future. It is a bounty where there is at least a little money involved and Neil said he might take it.

I agree with Paolone here.
I had the same thoughts when thinking about zune-papercuts. As an ordinary AROS user i can spot papercuts just like anybody else but telling if it is Zune related is very difficult. Sure enough i can spot a dozen or so obvious zune-related bugs (which i purposely tried not to mention in the normal papercut thread as that would have been out of scope), but that's all a normal user can do. As someone who on occasion developes some tools to make life easier on aros, i barely scratched the surface of zune/mui. So in that respect i agree that developers who bumps into these things on a more regular basis have more insight in these things in respect to 'normal' users. In regard to that i only can hope those developers that run into trouble with zune/mui are aware of this initiative and can be bothered by giving their input. just 2 cents red: Quote: Please, add your zune paper cuts, so that thay can be taken care of the same way as aros paper cuts. I personally will hold on that until the first papercut-initiave is more or less finished or evaluated by the people who participated. For all we know they didn't like it at all . Also i want developers to catch some breath as e.g. deadwood is still rushing to try to reach 75 finished cuts before e-o-y. regards

I agree a proper page for Zune fixes would be better. But please pay all the needed attention not to mix things that behave to "normal AROS" and Zune paper cuts.
I see the Zune Paper Cuts page like a repo for Zune missing or broken functionalities, more developer than user oriented. Developers should write here what functions do not work or are still unimplemented (but needed), while users can describe with their own words what's not behaving very well in zune application, that may depend on Zune itself. Otherwise, this page would turn into a mess in no time.

@_lm_
Zune paper cuts are just a subset of AROS paper cuts, in other words, just add them to the main thread. Thanks. EDIT: On reflection, having a separate thread for Zune paper cuts may make sense, as the Zune Fix bounty is due to be taken soon. Having more eyes looking for bugs in Zune will help, good idea _lm_. With this in mind, please ignore my previous advice!

A Zune Paper cuts page is a good thing, as for the most part Zune is compatible with mui 3.8; it just needs to be fixed here and there.
My initial zune paper cuts: - fix "select all" in texteditor mcc, as it doesn't work apparently - implement "iconify", as it does nothing at the moment. Please, add your zune paper cuts, so that thay can be taken care of the same way as aros paper cuts. |
