Indeed, AROS doesnt itself do anything to preserve power. If your BIOS is configured to setup certain things then they will probably be active still while running AROS.
ACPI is only currently used at all on x86_64 builds - and even then so far it is only used to find extra processor cores. Im trying to get the Intel ACPI parser/compiler etc compiled into acpi.resource atm but its no small task (for me atleast..)

AFAIK the only "power saving" feature AROS has is that it doesn't keep the CPU busy when there's no task to be run.

Yeah, but without freq scaling this will not eat less CPU power...
I've tried Haiku too. Somehow it does not so well on my HP laptop. The cooling goes almost without stopping, even if I don't do any processor killer thing. It is wery different with Aros...

Hi,
AROS is just less resource hungry than Linux. Just because AROS does less in the background, no swapping, far less system tasks.

Is this page working?
I've heard, that this is not refreshed anymore.... Some bountys are ready, etc. As I experienced, Aros kernel knows somthing about ACPI, because Aros uses the battery very efficiently. I can use simmilarly long as on Linux. (This is just a guess)

Well, If I can find time to fix/cleanup what I have - I will consider commiting it to the AROS svn for someone to start with - it basically would leave only the registering of the found resources to the bounty taker.
it comprises an acpi.resource, cpu.resource and pic.resource (the last item likely to be dropped)
