That does not rely only on AROS, the bios must be able to boot from such a device too. Not sure mine can.
And anyway, USB support is a huge task : I think it could be done that way : - USB top level hidd, the one which will be called by usb device drivers - USB Host controller interface hidds : there is 3 hidds that need to be done for this as there is 3 different implementations UHCI (intel), OHCI (compaq) and EHCI (usb 2.0) And not even to mention that most USB controllers are accessible through PCI bus, but some others don't. And then we could start on with USB device drivers (HID, disks, etc.)

"Hmmm, do you have an Amiga in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? :amour2:"
Great slogan for Aros or what? ![]()

An Amiga on a stick ![]() Yes that would be great! You could have your entire system on one tiny little USB stick (AROS is very small )

That's my dream! that way you could go up to a friend's system and say, "looky here!" reboot and Voila! they can see what Amiga looks like. plus, unlike a CD, I could add programs and change settings depending on the system I was "hijacking".

Yeah, It would be nice to just walk up to a PC, stick in a USB keydrive and boot into AROS.

There is a skeleton USB driver project in the CVS.
Its build has been disabled. The driver structure is implemented in the form of an HIDD (AROS regular way to do things). Everyone is free to begin one more time with it. Sure, a bounty would help to develop a complete stack. Speaking of USB storage, I think there is more to do than the USB driver itself, as it should be bootable, and that requires more work on bootable volumes (LS120 or mem-cards should be bootable too). On another side, capture of camera pictures would require FAT16/32 FileSystem support too (here, a bounty has been assigned). |

Well, usb support has to be implemented into aros, thats for sure, since ps/2 probably will be replaced by usb in future(i`ll give it 1 year) motherboards.
I was talking about an USB stack yeah Lots of usb devices has popped up lately: Usb mice, usb keyboards, usb harddrives, usb scanners, usb cameras, usb printers etc USB is the future, no matter how much you praise the good old ps/2

Well, then go suggest it to Team AROS and start it off with a donation.
I assume you are talking about a USB stack. I think that would be needed first. Horse in front of carriage. What kind of USB devices do you have in mind? If you want to have a bounty opened, it's got to be defined. I'd like to be able to use my USB keyboard and wireless mouse, plus be able to get my pictures from my camera or card reader. Oh, can't forget my printer and scanner. They are attached to the card reader (Canon Multipass F60). |

Is there someone working on USB drivers for AROS?
If not, is there a bounty for it yet?
