@Yannick

I build your version for aos4 right now, and it works more or less fine. Of course a bit slow in rendering terms (because realisation of OpenGL on aos4 not so fast), also 1ghz of cpu on my peg2 maybe make difference, but still, it works and usable.

For now i found bug on exit (thanks to GR):

Stack trace:
_ZN3lpi9TextureGL4PartD1Ev()+0x2C (section 1 @ 0xf88f4)
_ZN3lpi9TextureGLD0Ev()+0x130 (section 1 @ 0xf9f54)

So, bug initially come from _ZN3lpi9TextureGL4PartD1Ev()+0x2C function.

Check also that thread. Maybe it can be better when more users will try os4/aros to found bugs/critical parts, etc

Finally got it to work. Runs at an acceptable speed on my system without hardware acceleration (core2duo@3.4ghz/2gig ddr2 1066/radeon x550), although it's far from what a person would expect performance wise for such a simple (albiet cool) program. All that aside though, thanks for this, Ive been wanting something along these lines for AROS for quite some time,.... now I just need my old gf9600gt to work in AROS (other than vesa, hence the reason Im using my radeon x550) and Im a happy man

Lodepaint is in heavy development by its initial author.
Almost every day a new commit is made by him.

I've used an older commit, I'll try to update to the latest version in introduce my changes to see if anything is going faster.

However, I don't think it will ever run at an acceptable speed without HW acceleration for OpenGL.

One question:
Can we work on SDL port to improve the situation with the mouse pointer or shall it be done for each application the problem occurs in?
Can we use here the newly introduced pointer change function in SDL directly?

Strange that is so slow .. I checked code, and found in lpi_event.h:
Quote:

*
StandByUtil: this adds some SDL Delay if the mouse didn't move for a while.
This because normally every frame everything is redrawn and handled. If the user
is away, this is a lot of resources being used up for nothing. So go a little
slower then.
*/
class StandByUtil
{
blbalbllablba
if(isStandBy(input))
{
SDL_Delay(200);
}
}

So, very possible that it also can cause a problems .. Will try to build it today on os4, maybe i can do some optimisation.

Hmm... I will check what version I have when I get home. I updated my Icaros with a Nightly maybe 5-6 days ago.
LodePaint runs fine here on 7300GT albeit a bit slow.

This may help, I have just realised that the daily Mesa.Library does not work on my machine. No demos will run.

The Original one I have is fine but LodePaint does not like it, asking for a v12 one.

Also "info mesa.library" does not return anything on console.

The version in the nightlies *should be* V12. Go to SYS:Libs and do Info on mesa.library - it should show the version.

The reason you are getting this requester might be because mesa.library fails to load.

@Yannick
The software should never expect exaclty the V11 - it should allow running with V12 as well. I'm pretty sure SDLGL allows any version of the library (it does not have a hardcode for version)

When I updated to V12, I tried running your older ports like two space games yuo ported and they worked without problem.

Again the problem might be that mesa.library fails to load for some reasong.

Well that is strange because I tried it with the latest mesa.library off of a daily.

It has been compiled with one of the latest nightly.
It works both in SW and HW mode with the latest nightly builds.

@deadwood

Is there a way not to need always the exact same MESA version that the one the SW has been compiled with?

Stuck my 3d card in and will not run saying needs v12 library.

I think you need to get it to run with the software renderer on the daily's and if it is not quick so be it. Then it should support the hardware one.
