Close open files ?

Even a shutdown function that tells you a shutdown would not beo good because there are still some open files would be great.

This shutdown function could be implemented with or without Guru.

Something useful with a controlled shut down would be good.

Guru was good but machine was then dead and could not back up other work before reboot. Could easily have a flashing Guru bar in the software failure box for fun but no more.

We already have a capture arrant task requester so I assume that catches a lot, but from experience not all.

That is a good idea! :yes4: We would have the technical stuff plus the Guru Meditation looking like the original as a reminescense of the good old Amiga-times. I'd love it!

i don't think old guru screens were so great, functionality-wise.
only the choice of words "guru meditation" for telling there was a crash were cool.

nowdays, i'd prefer something along the lines of grimripper on os4, meanning, possibility for the user to get more details about the error and so on.

call the crash handler window "guru meditation" if you want instead.. make it theme-able at best, with option to display using fullscreen mode eventualy..
but not just plain black screen only..

<chant>GURU! GURU! GURU!</chant>

It really sounds disturbing, but I'd love to see a GURU Meditation...

I'd then sit on my Joy-Board (Ok, I only own a Balance Board) and try not to move ;)

As long as we are talking about this. I would say that I would like to see something more like "Grim Reaper" from OS4 rather then Guru. Granted just Guru would be great. But as long as we are "talking" I think something like Grim Reaper that actually provides meaningful feed back to the devlpers so that erros can be resolved. Anyone who has worked with a devloper to resolve an issue can attest to the fact that sometimes getting the dev the right infomation can be hard. Something that not only catches the error and prevents a systemwide crash but can also provided the needed info back to the dev would be just wonderful.

Hi,
Having a guru message is just cosmetic.
I think being able to change the screenmode from the screenmode requester, and having the mode change when you switch to a different res screen that foody also mentions would be much more useful. (is someone working on that?(is it possible?))

An exception handler would be nice, just something between Window's 'blue screen' and Amiga's 'guru meditation'.

I would prefer white (grey) letters on black background and if there is GFX something like the furry AROS mascot with a sad look on it's eyes.

Next step could be something like a recoverable alert, a possibility to kill a task that wrote into empty or somehow protected memory areas.

I would also pay some bucks for a bounty.
