Problem solved - I'd screwed up the IP address. I'd given a random ip of 192.168.0.18 which I've now changed to 192.168.1.18. Everything's up and running now.

Thanks for your help

James

Your card "should" work. How did you come by the network prefs settings? Another operating system on the same machine?

Jeff.

Hi

I have a native Icaros installation running smoothly on my Asus motherboard. I have sound running now thanks to Davy and clusteruk (donation sent!), all that's left now is the onboard network.

PCITools shows the onboard chip as an RTL8101/8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet Controller, VendorID 0x10ec, Product 0x8136, Revision 0x0002. I've setup the card with a static address in Network Prefs but can't connect or see any activity from my router when trying. The same chip with exactly the same device ids is listed as working here http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros on a D945GCLF motherboard using the rtl8169.device. At what point in the Aros startup is Aros TCP launched, and is there any way I can see console output from it?

Failing that, can anyone point me to a cheap pci nic on Dabs, Aria or ebuyer that they know is Aros compatible.

Thanks
James
