Cheers Davy, I would support that but already spent money on drivers

Come on who wants them and will put hands in pocket.

Hi all,

I could port my OS4/OSX Envy24HT and Envy24 drivers to AROS. They would remain closed source though. For a list of cards, seehttp://www.audio-evolution.com/drivers .

The Envy24HT ones will have digital out working, but most Envy24-based cards will not and all cards would be stereo in/out.

I am interested to hear how many people would be interested to donate for that since I wouldn't port them for my own pleasure and use.

Davy

Unfortunately HDREC is written in Blitz Basic2.x/amiblitz. It's a nice bit of software, but not protable.

Audacity is open Source.. recording Software

Midi Support would be needed too

I just have the opinion that the possibility of Hard Disk Recording would make AROS much more popular.. and it would be good for the renomee of AROS if Musicians get attention to AROS!

I just had the Idea

I agree totally with you and I am trying to get some recording software writtem.

However, we have a slightly bigger number of sound chips now but as Fishy_fis said, we need the recording software now.

HD-Rec is open source, ready to be ported. :)
And, BTW, it's an excellent piece of software.
Here it is:
http://hd-rec.svn.sourceforge.net/ (latest version)

Official web page:

http://www.hd-rec.de (contains an old binary, though)

O know but one step at a time, I talked long and hard with Davy about porting his software but we lack some of the tools and at moment it is too big a job for too small return and remember he does this for a living.

However, over time we will get there.

though i'm an audioguy, it would take a lotlotlot software and hardware support for me to be able to use aros, so a no in this case.
example of stuff:
-a good multitrack program for automation and mixing
-a wave/aiff editor
-something like this:http://cycling74.com/products/maxmspjitter/ or this:http://puredata.info/
-vst or au support or at least ladspa

@Qbit:
there was a thread recently about a opensource amiga sound editor:http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=3905&forum=4

unfortunately it seems to be pre-ahi.. don't really have a clue of what kind of workload that would imply...
also i remember that the amiga version of samplitude was given away free, but i don't know if that also concerns the source code, or only the binaries..
