@clusteruk

The sound chip onboard (or rather the integrated chipset) is rather esoteric, so unless there's some brilliant developer out there who has one of these boards and really wants audio it isn't going to get an Aros driver. Much more likely is if USB audio gets fixed as described here.

@Manu
Windows XP boots, and is the OS I currently have installed on it, but Windows 7 beta complained it didn't like the BIOS and stopped dead. So much for the promise Windows 7 wouldn't require a pc design no more than a few months old to run...

@Colani1200
I'll have a go at making a video, but I've never uploaded one to YouTube or similar before so it could be a bit of a learning curve...

Cool a touch screen even, I'm happy for you.! Funny that only AROS booted and not Win/Lin, I guess that's a nice kudos to our Aros devs. Thanks for sharing.

Dear all,
I though you might be interested in hearing that ICAROS 1.2 runs on a VIA PicoITX board.

The image below is of the UMPC I put together from the PicoITX board, a touchscreen and other bits and pieces, with the obligatory DVD for scale.

As you can see, it's booted ICAROS 1.2 from the eSATA DVD drive (I haven't yet got around to installing it on the hard drive yet). The vesa driver works fine at the LCD's resolution of 800x600, and will go higher if the LCD is turned off in the BIOS. Wired networking seems to be functional through the VIA rhine driver, although I haven't checked the speed yet. USB side is working well, including the touchscreen, which is a real bonus.

The only unsupported feature is sound, but I'd expected this. I can't see the rather specialised chipset on this board getting AROS sound drivers, but I can hope for a USB soundcard to be supported at some point in the future.

Anyway, the next step is to get a bigger hard drive (currently 120GB and nearly full), get AROS and XP dual booting, and then I can use AROS at work (principally Hollywood, MUIBase and Pagestream via UAE).

By the way, it really is fantastic to have AROS running so well as on the PicoITX I have yet to find a version of Linux that will run properly (including the latest Ubuntu) and Windows 7 didn't want to know either!
