AROS on a single core ATMO cpu might be faster as the new AmigaONE.
Reasons: 1. AOS4 doesn't support Multicore systems. 2. AROS systems are much cheaper. 3. AROS systems have better hardware. 4. In six montha AROS systems might have better 3D drivers. And the XMOS is nothing more than a PR hype, Hyperion has no idea what to do with it. They don't even support all the hardware on the older Sam systems ...

Well I got my answer any way.
Will not affect my Aros work, but a new hispec Amiga sounds good to me. Especially if it stands out from the crowd. We will see.

This board is the death of hyperion.
To expensive, PPC again :( Hyperion have not even a good USB-stack, and now this. The world today is mobile, and laptop. They should at least make a laptop where amigaos could be used, but no, they aiming for high-end marked, with no high-end programs. They think someone from heaven will come and do some miracle software that will make x1000 attractive. It's getting stupid. I'm typing this from AROS hosted. Runs like a dream with wifi and everything. Watch out for OWB 1.0 :D Long live AROS

Interesting response, if a bit negative.
@haywirepc, yes duly noted your sceptisism. However, If it is a succuss, I WILL remind you. The addition of this chip is nothing special, what is special is that it is standard on all Amigas to come. When the clever little sods get hold of programming guides, we will be over run with amazing little apps that do amazing things by connecting stuff to the standard computer inside and outside. On price, this version will be expensive but once it proves itself it will come down with newer models. Of course if Aros was involved and supported it, then an iMica system could do this stuff for around ?300 or you "out of a skip" PC for peanuts. The real crunch for me to get right behind what they are doing is if the chips are accessible on the bus in the X1000, have access to system ram and anything in the system or connected externally. I will have these answers hopefully tomorrow. If this is the case, I will be first in the queue and may pay for this to added to Aros if possible.

If it's an interrupt handler chip, it may avoid pipeline stalls on the main processor and simplify the kernal construction. The only interrupts the main CPU will handle will be the very predictable timer-based interrupts and exception handling.

Paolone,
I say a prayer every day for uae integration finished with joystick and sound. No really, every day I ask God to make this happen. I ask God,Jesus, The holy spirit, the blessed mother,Zeus,Mother Theresa,All the angels and saints, and the prophet mohammed too. I wonder if the developer feels the divine light of my prayers when he is working? To me, Aros will just feel like a real successor to amiga once this is done. Without it, it just looks like amiga, works like amiga but is still lacking the ability to continue the legacy. I'll keep praying. Next I will pray for smp support for Aros. Also, I will pray for draggable screens. Praying never hurts. :) Steven

I like the concept of the x1000 but my logical thought was that x86 was the way to go. I wish them the best and maybe i buy one too. I#m hoping to get Qemu patched to emulate AmigaOS and MorphOS on the AresOne (both will be slow but on par with Efika) Its just meant as a plaything.

IMHO, the only thing that matters with the X1000, for AROS, is that Hyperion will be forced to add dual-core capabilities to AmigaOS in order to support its processor. This might be a case study for us: since we are in the very same need to add SMP as well (no, for us it is more urgent, since x86s have even 4, 6, 8 or more cores), we should ensure that the way we'll do it will not create difficulties to people writing applications for AmigaOS, MOS and AROS.
