I think the best translation is:
"Eierlegende Wollmilchsau" = "all-in-one device suitable for every purpose"

But that translation is not so funny like the original word that means something like "Egg-laying wooly milk-pig".

.... new project => more systems => other audience

If everything goes fine with manufacturing i will present in july the (Ares) Ark (protype in working condition)

- unique hand made case
- optional accesoires like speaker, subwoofer in the same design
- room for 2 Mainbaords (case is not as big as you will think now )

1. The new case will be the standard case for the Ares2 (not AresOne late 2010)
2. the Ark will be mainly a GreenIT, luxorius MediaCenter (that's why i talk about other audience)
3. The system is highly scalable from powerefficent lowpower to a mindblowing 6 core workstation -> case can lay on side or standing.

What is the translation of "Eierlegende Wollmilchsau" ?

I will check another potential Mobo for the "Late summer revision" but the next board will be smaller. ?-ATX and the customer can choose between small(HTPC) or big cases.

What do you think about the x1000 casehttp://www.mercateo.com/p/C1001-2694601/Fractal_Design_Define_R2.html

Looks interesting, I wonder how difficult a port would be?

...why do kids these days insist on dressing like a cross between Bobo The Clown and "Fiddy Cent"?! Is it some sort of dare?

Did anyone already had a look at this:http://efsl.be/

To my point of view, it could helpus to have a better fat handler, it is very well documented, has a very small footprint as it is developped for the embedded market, and has apparently some very useable caching system.

Im playing a bit with the fat handler source code right now.

I've been able to go from 290kB/s to 480kB/s writing to my usb stick by changing the cache from WRITETHROUGH to WRITEBACK in fat.c

I still have to check that the copy is correct but is seems so.

I have 1.2MB/s spped while reading from this stick.

No, its okiez. I sometime get a little frustrated and go a little "off the handle". My apologies.

Apology accepted.

For this to work, we would have to support their efforts, and thats all I was suggesting. Steven and yourself seem content with things as they are, so I guess who am I to rock the boat?

Perhaps you hadn't noticed, but the reason there's little incentive to rock the boat is because the plans for increased iMica and AresOne hardware support are working.

For example, the networking driver for the AresOne was finished recently and the bounty money was transferred directly to a new bounty to get the on-board sound working.

Also, clusteruk suggested he knew someone who would be willing to write AROS drivers, for the right price. So you see, there's no need for drama. Hope that helps clear things up.

Oh, and disk operations seem faster on OS4/Mos 2.4, but then, there seems to be a problem with the fat filesystem in Aros - I can only get about 240KB p/s from external usb devices - I have tried on all 3 Aros systems I use.

Our FAT handler's performance and reliability are poor. Transfer rates between USB devices vary, but are little better if volumes inside of them are formatted with the FAT16 variant.
