Please dont take this the wrong way! I think you do a very good job promoting AROS and your work with iMica!

Do not worry, not offended, notice the smiley.

It is human nature we all want more, but I like to play with hardware and share my findings. Alway been an Amiga nut and Aros IMHO is the future.

Abosutely great to have a fully supported laptop, but as a well seasoned supplier of computer hardware if somebody spent the money and developed all of that, it would not be good enough and people would want more.

I am only suggesting this so that the maybe half a dozen people who have mentioned many times what they would give for an Aros laptop with sound and network.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother

I for one think it would be better to get a chosen system full hardware driver support. A safe choice could be the eeepc or asus aspire one.

There is an old bounty for the eeepc, sadly it is not taken yet. Maybe we should instead get at bounty for intel graphics (that also would come in handy for Gallium3D some time in the future).

I'll bet its already possible to boot an eeepc/aspire one once all the USB/FAT32/SFS issues are sorted out.

So what we need for a NEW cheap laptop would be :
Intel graphic driver
sound driver
network, LAN or even better WIFI...

This would in my opinion be a perfect AROS computer! Single core, cheap, portable and produced in the millions

AROS AC97 compatible or AC97 compatibility. There is a difference. I dunno if this is such a great idea to be honest.

Just out of curiosity if I may. How many people have purchased an imica so far?

Well obviously I have tested it with Aros for sound or I would not have mentioned it.

On subject of iMica, numbers sold is irrelevant it is not meant to be a business but a hobby and a way to inspire people. Lots of people are now running iMica type systems based on the boards and components I have listed previously.

But if you want to know how many have been sold by me then less than ten and two of those are mine

I am just trying to get people interested. Oh and if I fulfill the iMica promise, then maybe next year I can sell twenty

Steve

PS. and what little profit I make goes into driver development encouragement. At the moment I am down a couple of hundred.

Hi Guys, I have just made a discovery of a model of Laptop that runs Aros in Vesa mode and has AC97 sound compatibility. I am just looking into the network driver business at the moment.

If I can get Network working on it, who would pay ?200 for it. They are refurbished and not new, but around 1.75ghz with 1gb ram, 60gb drive and DVDrw.

If there is interest I will send one to Kalamatee, if he has time to get drivers written. Remember, Aros can run Amiga 68k apps and so this may be a great Amiga laptop.

They are in short numbers so I need to know if there is an interest.

Steve
