very curious, on my aros machine, I 've got 2 hard drives. THe first is dedicated to aros (installed on port ide1) and the second for ubuntu 9.04. Perhaps, you should try to install ubuntu on a spare hard drive, before trying to make Imica multiboot ?

I have tried everything and cannot get Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 to run or install on iMica board. Really annoying but may be because I have Aros and Windows 7. Ubuntu tries to install and goes pear shaped.

Will try and find another.

I don't know, I never saw a ubuntu distro not working in live session, and working after installation.

But I think it worths the try (ubuntu or whatever fancy linux distro supporting 3d and multiple core), because it's free and usually works great and stable. Good addition, until AROS will be 1.0 ;)

I have not run the instalation so it may only run once installed. I was surprised and I wanted to check the performance of the 3D chip.

It's quite surprising, when I browse ubuntu community website, the mainboard you're using seems to work correctly ? (to be honest, I hope so, because this mainboard will be the base of my future computer I beleive ^^ )

If not, perhaps you can try another easy distro, like open suse ou mandriva (to keep it user friendly). Open suse is great looking, by the way ;)

Oh and I will do a Linux test but only when I can get a distro that runs on these boards. Tried Ubuntu and GOS (which is badged ubuntu) but neither will boot on live cd start. I may try and install later if I can be convinced it will work.

Cannot believe that the Intel Atom board has problems with Linux.

Please do not compare Vista and Windows 7. As a windows developer I gave Vista VERY wide berth. However, Windows 7 performs very well on less hardware. I guess they got the message. I will be moving over when suitable for my work.

I tried windows vista 2 years ago, on a amd 4200+ dual core PC. I was very surprised by the lack of performances of VISTA on such a powerfull computer. So I uninstalled it very quickly...
