Maybe this could be of interest, here's a similar discussion. Link to page Quote:
I think so, I have tested and I can start both types the same way.

1. Go to: /AROS/workbench/devs/datatypes
2. Create a file named T64.dtd with this contents: # Descriptor for T64 files. Name=T64 Version=$VER: T64 1.0 (13.6.2009) BaseName=binary Pattern=#.t64 GroupID=syst ID=t64 Flags=DTF_BINARY,DTF_CASE Priority=0 3. make workbench-devs-datatypes 4. make bootiso-quick This should create a datatype. Then you also need a default icon, but I believe Paolo already knows how to do this :) edit: this is a simplified version of datatype. More advanced would be to use Pattern=#? and then Mask = <initial bytes that will be found in any t64 files aka magic number>. This way the file would not even have the t64 extension but would be treated as t64. See ELF.dtd for an example of using Mask key. edit2: what Mazze said :)

There are two possibilities for the identifying mechanism of a "Datatype descriptor":
a) by pattern (e.g. #?.d64) b) by searching for a magic string at the beginning of the file. This is the preferrable method. Can anyone check if such a magic string exists? The next step is to create a default icon with the needed command as default tool. I have to find out if command line options are possible here. Are the command line options for both d64 and t64 the same?

You can start VICE with from the command line, officially like this: x64.exe -autostart YOURFILE.T64 or just x64.exe YOURFILE.T64( works too) x64.exe -help shows you the complete command line list This said I think it would be very nice to have a data type for C64 files. Sorry to say I know nothing either about how creating datatypes. Any takers ?

That is what I mean...running in AROS seamlessly and using the native system menu bar, after the style of janus euae. There's so much emulation being used officially...OS X, Amiga OS4, Morph OS.

Paolone, Point and click c64 apps would be really cool.
If I could run a sid-tracker in an aros window, I'd be very happy. I'm pretty sure from what you described this could be done, but it would take some hair pulling work I'm sure. Same for point and click ms-dos applications. Its interesting that many people are starting to use more emulation to get them access to apps from other platforms. check out portable ubuntu for windows, its pretty cool, lets you run any linux app that behaves well on your windows desktop. AROS should try and run as many things as possible while the developers keep developing more AROS applications. If I had access to amiga, AROS c64 and DOS applications, I'd probably never need to boot into windows... Steven

We can bind .t64 and .d64 files to VICE providing a datatype. This can be done if VICE accepts line commands like "x64 -mount file.d64 -autorun" (it's a example, don't try this at home
). We should create a proper datatype and a def_ info file for C64 image files, bound to extras:Emu/VICE-i686-AROS-2.0/x64.exe. The only issue here, is that I have never investigated seriously on how to add datatypes.

Paolone,
I think he means point and click on a c64 application and it starts automatically in an aros window? That would be kind of cool I think, same for dos applications. I'm really excited about the next icaros desktop because of the dosbox... I'm hoping I can run fast tracker II on AROS. Paolone,I will send you my first born child if that works, or just let you have my girlfriend if you prefer. :) Steven

Did not even get past point 1 before it went over my head. But I guess this is nothing I could do with Icaros ?
