Edit: Um, something to note- all the useful terms are, of course, adjectives. Adjectives create metaphor, nouns point to single objects... thus "UNIX" actually suffers the same problem "Amiga" does. (So the best we can hope for is "Amiga-derived" or "Amiga-related," same as "UNIX-derived" or "UNIX-like." While I'm not up on the linguistic jargon, those hyphenations serve to make adjectives out of nouns.) Of course, misusing 'UNIX' will now only piss off a standards body, not a commercial vendor, which is why it rarely kicks up dust these days. --- Taking cue from rinnan, we could just call it our karass. |
