well i spent another 15 minutes on the AerosOne web page without finding out how to actually buy one.

afaik You can't. Only the options i listed are available. buying aeros itself is not one of them (this is because all other options has the benefit that it will donate money to the AROS or related project). Maybe it's a bit wierd doing it this way, but you'll have to confront phoenixkonsole with that

However I sent an email off to them and am awaiting an answer.

Smart move, let him take the wrap. After all, he's the one responsible

Right now I am trying to get the version that would run on my x86 quad core Ubuntu machine along side the Xubuntu install.

afaik, Aeros comes _included_ with (i believe) debian.

It maybe I am confused as to which version I need.

Ah, i better let phoenixkonsole explain that as he knows best (and quite frankly i never did quite understood the difference between broadway, broadwayX and Aeros myself).

So, all in all i don't think it's only you that have trouble grasping things

I wouldn't say dense. Maybe a bit of reading might help:

Quote:
The Raspberry Pi Version is only available for registered users. To get registered you need to qualify yourself with one of the following options:
1. Buy something from ares-shop.de or prove that you bought a AresOne from somewhere else
2. USE our sd-card service on ebay
3. Donate at east 10 US $ to any AROS related bounty on www.power2people.org or prove that you did already.
4. Or buy a ARES ArmedOne

Everyone else need to wait for the release of outdated versions to the public. Visit the OLD_Versions subpage for them.

and for not pi:
Quote:
Here you can download the latest public builds (only registered people get access to the bleeding edge)

all written on this page.

Now after a bit of puzzling you can find the public release of pi version here.

For all other options, like bribing, demanding, terrorising, etc you contact pascal. Also known here as phoenixkonsole.

And i admit, (no offense) phoenixkonsole's websites are a bit chaotic for newcomers. It might perhaps be a good idea to add to the faq how you can become registered when you do not want the bleeding edge pi-version.

So far i always assumed that the same rules applied.

PS: bribing helps

"How to register for downloading" seems to me to be a very improtant first part of the downloading part of the FAQ.

How do you manage to get a registration to the AROS download section at:

http://www.aeros-os.org/styled-9/index.html
?

I may be dense but I have spent 1/2 an hour looking for a link for registration.

How can I contact the webmaster, or maintainer of this forum?

I have forgotten my password and the link for providing new passwords here is not working properly. It logs you in, but it does not provide you with your old password, so you can't update your account to a new password. So I am logged in today by using the automated link sent to me via email, but as soon as I log out, I won't be able to log in again as I still don't have the password.

If anyone can provide with the help I need, please email me with the solution, or with the forum maintainer's email address, so I can contact him/her directly. My email is my user name at earthlink.net.

Thanks

P.S. I posted this here, as it was the Help thread, or forum.

Edit: My mistake, I must not have read the first email carefully enough (or it does not state that a 2nd email will be sent), as I just found another email in my Inbox that has the new password and I have successfully changed my password.

First you HDD must be set as primary drive. Then it might be a good idea to first open hd-toolbox in sys:tools to see if your HDD is listed there. Then you should only use the installer in sys:tools. From there wipe disk and set sizes on you partiton (partitions) be sure to not override the sizes. Only use sfs (smart file system) for your partitions.

Q: What is the options of the C:Partition command?
A: PARTITION Command usage:
Partition [<Device> <Unit>] [SYSSIZE=<n>] [WORKSIZE=<N>] [MAXWORK] [WIPE] [FORCE] [QUIET]
If no option defined it will try to partition - probably ata.device #0...

Q: How do i launch hosted AROS in full screen ?
A: Call "export AROS_X11_FULLSCREEN=1" in a shell.
Start AROS and change the screen resolution in the screenmode
preferences. Quit AROS and start it again.

Okay, full screen works, but I can't change the resolution - nothing happens. Even if I'm not in full screen mode: calling prefs/ScreenMode, nothing happens if I use test/use or save.

But after running in full screen mode, fidling around with the Screenmode (and nothing happened) and restartet my X server, the next time I ran aros (window mode) opened a window with the full screen size and wanderer also used the full window size.
