First default AHI panel sets the master sound device (AHI_DEFAULT_UNIT I suppose). But one can perhaps choose explicitly Unit 0, forcing to set Unit 0 parameters too? I was puzzled too, with the new AHI-Device virtual Unit, and the only doc found is one cryptic comment line in the AHI source itself! ![]() Quote: But just having questions compleatly ignored is...well...rude. Not at all: 1) If others do like me they don't respond if they can't. 2) We (aros-exec users, as me and you) _are writing_ this very documentation right now, here. 3) Each point you asked for was enterly valid. Now when I find a glitch, I wait first for your post to be able to respond about it! ![]() Quote: In the end what do I hope to get/do with this? I hope that I can put together a "getting started" guide to Aros. Ho, yes! And you are right, some few docs (perhaps existing updated free Amiga docs? Aminet?) for someone who never had an Amiga could be handy. (I made some work on wiki2html and wiki2xhtml PHP classes to take an AROS documentation ReST on input and return XHTML text on output, not finished) |

1. I think it can, but you need to make the partitions with Linux FDisk (or similar) then create RDB partitions within them. When you double-click on the harddisk device you should just see two entries instead of one (note: I havn't tried this yet, but will be soon - I just finished my recent deadline so I have time to try stuff now!)
2. Thought that was working, but some of the crashes etc you're describing are pretty wierd ... again, can't test myself right now, but will get a soundblaster very soon!

Remaining Questions

I know that I have been busy posting all kinds of of "problems" in the last few days. My thanks goes to the people who help me. I have leaned a lot and am enjoying my Aros-Max experence.
There are two more remaing questions that everyone seems to be just ignoing. Ignoring a question does not make it go away. 1. - How to setup two partitions on a drive using HDToolbox? Is it possiable? If, so then How? If a doc already exists where it it? If it not possiable or just way to complitated at this time to bother with? Someone say something please! I have posted this question at least 3-4 times. 2. - AHI. I had to go into AHI.preffs and set it up before I could get sound on games. I had already tested and got that test sound. Aparentlty this is not all that is inovled with setting up AHI. I was told to setup something on "Device 0" I played with that and I found there were a total of 4 of these things. I evently got sound on games but I have no idea how. Is there any information on AHI, and how to set it up properly? For each of these things I have looked on the Web for and not found what I hope to. I don't need a detailed disertation. All I need is a point in the right direction or maybe even just tell me. Please do not take this as a rant or anything against anybody. But just having questions compleatly ignored is...well...rude. In the end what do I hope to get/do with this? I hope that I can put together a "getting started" guide to Aros. I have done things like this before (quick guides for propitary software) I have done training for "newbies" before, again for propitary software. Something that would help someone who is curious about Aros but doesn't really know Amiga, pick up Aros-Max and be able to get the most out of it. It might not be the best but I would like to give it a shot. The point of this is. I can't do it unless I understand it. Right now I don't understand enough about partitioning (in Aros) and setting up AHI to be able to help anyone. |
