I see, play needs some error checking related to SDL it appears. Given that play is just a simplified version of ffplay and not meant to be a full player, it would probably be best to not worry about it and put more effort into a port of mplayer and/or xine to AROS instead.

as i told was my fault, diferently as the other sound enabled apps i have, play freeze if ahi doesnt find the soundcard!

so i put in the iso 2 plays:
play and playnosound!

but if the soundcard is present it works! (at least i supposed) cause hosted, if i get out the "soundcard" it freezes as well.

regards!

If you check my changes, they only affect the rate the audio plays at and whether to try decoding video. More than likely, your freeze is a problem with SDL for native. Remember that play requires both SDL_mixer for sound and SDL yuv video handling to work. I believe that play used to work in native, so I'd concentrate on SDL_mixer if I were you. Try disabling the audio and see if it works again.

Oh, I was also able to use play in native on one of my systems, so maybe it's something that changed recently in SDL that is causing your trouble. I tried it back in Sept. I'll try again with a newer build when I get the chance.

I don't have the binary handy anymore as I'm in the middle of changing my dev systems. The changed files I linked above are all that's currently available.

I have CVS access, but won't have the chance to try getting it to compile until next week more than likely.

If you remember, I posted changes I made to play before working on the sound for DOOM. Here is a zip of all the changed files. It enables audio (requires SDL_mixer), fixes the audio playback problems, and allows the playing of audio only files like mp3.

Please check if it works and maybe commit the changes to the cvs if it does.
