Should be good I look forward to every improvement!

By the way, should the RMB menus for create folder/delete file etc. be working under hosted? It's been giving me errors, so I've been doing all that under DOpus ...

Things are starting to get interesting in AROS. We have SOUND! Hopefully soon TCP/IP.. Would someone, anyone, please add some things to Wanderer. Like:

Cut & Paste
Drag and Drop
Automount (oh, please, please, please)

It would also be great to be able to add/delete shortcuts to the desktop/drawers.

PLEASE!! I'll be nice, really I will.

Dave

P.S. Not really as important but could we possiably get "drawers" where there are supposed to be drawers and "Folders" where there are supposed to be folders. Not really a big deal but for some reason it just seems to grate on my nerves.

Oh, can I add a PLEASE!!

Hopefully i will get the Cut & Paste/Drag and Drop working in the near future. Still got a few other issues to iron out though, and maybe even need to re work some of wanderers internals (i would like to try and get a detail view working using georgs test view code as the basis of a class..)

The screenshots cool gave you the link for dont show that you can use the cursors/enter to navigate the icons - though it still isnt working completely.

Im not sure what you are refering to by "Automount", but i think you mean sensing disk changes? thats something else i will look into if i can find time.

As for the shortcuts - thats something i would also like - but not in the amiga "leave out" fashion (with a .backdrop file) - i would prefer to have a new option in wanderer to allow it to use a drawer as well as the device list to represent the desktop (an ENV variable or other could specify which folder to use) - the same kind of thing winblows and all the lin*x desktops have.

I would also like to extend our ".info" file spec to have a new type of softlink/shortcut or whatever name people would use - that points to the correct program/drawer. Its tootltypes would override those set in the destination "apps" info file (if it has one..)

There are so many Heros on the AROS dev team. It can be hard to keep track.

ooooooo, I like that. Want that too. But honestly, I really think that the time for Wanderer to become more functional is here. I like all the "Bells and Wistles" but if we could just get the common stuff that all users expect than that would be great for a start. But this XIcon, I like that idea, a lot. I think that would be something for a bounty, maybe. As it is, by my opinion, above and beyond normal functionality. I don't mind starting bounties. I don't mind contribuiting to them even for "common" functionality like TCP/IP. Because that is a very specialized piece of code and is very hard to do.

Under Workbench all directories are represented by drawer icons

XIcon is a tool that a script can be associated with (under the icon's tool types as the default tool) so it can be just double-clicked on, like a normal program. With it you could have a Doom icon, for instance, that ran a script to copy the files to ram and start Doom with your own favourite switches.

It has been a long time since I used an Amiga regularly. I know there is a standard. Like a office. A file cabinate has drawers, drawers have folders, folders have files. What is "XIcon?" I am really hoping it won't take a bounty to get these things. But whatever it takes.

It would just make testing a lot of the stuff that is starting to happen much, much eaiser. It was fine when all you could do with AROS was run some demos and show the Preff apps and stuff. Now we are actually stating to get to be able to "do things" and these other things should probably be addressed.

Dave

P.S. Someone has to play in my Drawers, no one else is. :rasta:
