x Saimon79 and Heinz: sorry but I'm not going to edit a bootable ISO with any editor for adding files. It's too easy to make errors. Heinz, thanks for your suggestion, but con.* aren't locked files: are files with a name Windows won't allow you to copy on its hard drives. I simply can't unlock them.

I did some more testing, and I was able to put two files
on a ISO named CON.file and COM1.txt

If you have possibility to rename the files before and
rename them back to original name once inside the ISO
then you could go around the problem like that.

It is too much work if you have 50 files to rename but if
they are only a few I'd say you try it out.

AVS Disc Creator is a freeware ISO editor, maybe
you could edit your ISO file and try adding the
missing files with that program.

I dont know if that works for this con. files, but there is a program called "Unlocker" for Windows.
I use this whenever a file is locked by the Windows Explorer so I cant change, move or delete it.
It removes the Lock that is on those files.
I think it is worth a try:

is a common issue with windows, inherited from DOS times, con was a command and a device so the file system prevent files starting with or haveing this word....:(

BTW, Paolone, i was thinking, but dont know if possible: there are any utilities under linux that can mount an .iso volume and its partitions and let you add/remove files as it was a disk? something like Alchool 120% unde windows, i mean; this might solve or patch your problem in adding the files.

So, once patched that, the font issue is the only one left...

obviously in a single line. vmwarostest is the directory where I placed all files. I give this command from the parent one. I miss those -r and -l you have written in your email. I'll see what are these supposed to do when I have some time.

you create it. For example any file that starts with con.*
like con.file con.txt con.whatever ??

I just would like to know so if I have time I could try
to do some troubleshooting on my own.

If I set fonts (in Prefs/Fonts)(vmwAROS 0.6.0) to topaz/8 (Icons, System, Screen) I get an effect similar to what you get. Maybe the font files got corrupted somehow and topaz font is only usable font that AROS can find, so it is used for everything (in my case the clock and start menu had their correct font - this can't be configured by Prefs/Fonts)

EDIT: What command line do you use under Linux to create the ISO?

VmwAROS live! is almost ready. This means that in the meanwhile I have:

- correctly moved all files in the right places

- checked everything is working as before

- placed some control checks in order to assure that users won't run from CD software that may run only once installed

- created a bootable ISO

However I'm stuck with a stupid MKISOFS problems. I can create the bootable iso either under Windows or Linux. In the former case, I can't place on VmwAROS all development files starting with con.* name, due to a unvalicable limitation of Windows filesystems. In the latter, I can't get fonts loaded correctly, I think due to some character set or whatever. Here's a screenshot of VmwAROS LIVE! in the current stage, once created with Linux:



That's exactly as like as happened some months ago with a couple on nightly builds, which had fonts corrupted. I absolutely don't know how this problem has been fixed. I'm pretty sure I can get through this by placing some MKISOFS options, but I don't know which one. If anyone could help me, his answer would be really appreciated! Thanks and regards,
