that caused it. I will go and try make me an ISO now.

That's odd.

Assuming you have correctly installed FryingPan and created an assign in user-startup:

assign FryingPan: your_path/FryingPan
assign LIBS: your_path/FryingPan/Libs ADD

and configured it

device: ata_device
unit: your dvd burner

[settings]
Export data as: Split ISO Data Track
Export audio as: WAV audio track
Export sessions as: CUE Sheet Session

you have only to go to the [cd-rom] panel in Tracks menu and clic on ADD. Point with the file requester to AROS: volume and a AROS directory with all system files will be created. Go back to the root of your new CD-ROM clicking on "CD-ROM" and then click again on ADD, selecting Work: volume this time. All files in Work: will be placed into the WORK directory of your CD-R.

Then click on Build Image and create it directly into PUB:, calling it something simple, like vmwaros.iso

Once you're finished, go back to your host operating system and open a command line FTP client, in a directory of your choice. Assuming you have write access to C:, open a shell and give these commands:

C:

ftp 192.168.2.212 (or whatever IP addess your AROS VM has)

login name: anonymous
password (if requested): any word is good

bin (this will set binary transfer)
hash (this will show progresses)
get vmwaros.iso

wait the get command to end, and then

quit

now you have your vmwaros.iso on C: ready to be burnt on CD-R with Nero or so. Now take your CD and move to your AROS real box

copy evertyhing in AROS directory back to your SYS: volume
copy everything in WORK directory in your WORK: partition

IT'S MANDATORY YOU HAVE A WORK PARTITION. If you haven't it, dont' forget to create an ASSIGN on top of your startup-sequence like ASSIGN WORK: DH0:WORK (or whatever directory are you placing Work files).

Mayne you'll have to start installaros and install ONLY the bootloader again. Just keep a LIVE CD handy, if needed.

I tried with Fryingpan to create an ISO as you said,
but with no luck.

I can't get the files to appear inside the ISO image.
The instructions was to click on Add and point to a
drawer and just click ok to get that drawer and files
included to the iso. On my AROS vmware image (0.6) nothing happens. Is there something special about Fryingpan I need to know Assigns that must be made etc. ?

After much wrangling with HDToolbox (reverting to the 11/13/07 version so I could make Work: an SFS partition -- current version just crashes), I have installed AROS native on my hard drive. Next step: running Vmwaros and archiving the files...

Thanks for the suggestion, paolone, but which archiver do you suggest? Looking in AROS:extras/misc/aminet/c (and double-checking with C:) the only archiver I can find is bzip2.

bzip2 doesn't want to take a directory (example, SYS:) as input, so I'm stuck (for the moment). Any thoughts?

I'm not enough smart & cool to do this, sorry.

How about a native and hosted version aswell? A hosted version would be best for many,as it has better sound support.

1. Just install AROS on a blank hard disk of the target PC

2. enter VmwAROS and zip all file with an archivers of your choice. I'm sorry to tell you lha won't work since AROS lha is broken

3. you have to create 2 zip files, one for sys: and one for work:

4. place thos 2 files in pub:

5. download them on your host machine with ftp

6. burn them on a DVD

7. explode them on your AROS PC

8. you should be done. I never tried, though.

Has anyone copied a vmwaros image to a physical disk drive and successfully booted from it?

I've gotten as far as making a ghost image via a raw disk in VMWare, but ghosting to a new disk did not result in a bootable system (hanging on GRUB, I suspect the partition table got hosed by Ghost along the way).

Anyone else tried something similar?
