Hello,

Thanks for your feedback.

Well the pdf viewer is another story... And maybe having Ghostscript will do what you need.

At first, TeX & Latex generated DVI documents. So I have started to port the good ShowDVI application from PasTex.

You can try it with:
CLI> latex sample2e.tex
...
CLI> ShowDVI sample2e.dvi

Please note that it is very alpha software and it runs only on the TeXlive Qemu image I provided (it has a modified Rexx Regina.library). And also note that you have to wait some time for ShowDVI to show something; a wait cursor is not yet shown in the meantime, but can switch screens to look at what it is doing: generating fonts - they just not shared with TeXlive atm).

So, for the PDF viewer, we have to wait some time I guess,

Alain

Unfortunately you're wrong. If you succeed downloading GS850 for AROS from that page, you're lucky (I got only broken links), and, on the other hand, Whoosh's efforts were broken sometimes during 2006 and his version of Ghostscript became incompatible. I don't know if somebody still uses it and how.

Anyway, if you can in any way provide a PDF viewer for AROS, it would be really much appreciated by the community.

Well, despite many people heard about TeX and LaTeX at least once, very few knows what it is.

In short and very condensed words,(maybe not even too correct),TeX it is a dpcument and text and graphic processing language. Its functions cover almost every kind of document that might be made with paper, a sort of much extended HTML for paper documents. By the way, HTML itself is a subset of a document description language,SGML, used in a commercial application, framemaker.

LaTeX is an extended and more recent version of TeX.

Being a document processing language, it is possible to choose a finished document output file format, including PDF.

To be clear, TeX is not working in its current state.
I try to make a new package very soon.

Alain

PS: as a preview, the Qemu image on my web page is ok for testing... if you delete TeXlive:share/texmf/ls-R and run mktexlsr before running some other tex commands.
