Sounds like a Breakout/Arkanoid clone
But it´s short, and useful. Everybody immediately understands what it means.

Well, to me AmigaDE is actually Tao's intent with a bit thrown in by contract work via Amiga, Inc. It is in no way, shape or form Amiga-like, so when anyone talks about Amiga related topics, I do not think of intent/AmigaDE. I am not saying that intent/AmigaDE is not interesting tech, but it is not truely related to the OS we know and love.

The one that lept out at me, was "heritage". So perhaps referring to me was "Amiga heritage systems". Another idea was family, as in Amiga family of OS's. I'm Hawaiian (not of polynesian stock however, a haole boy) and there's a local term, here, "ohana" which means something like "extended family and perhaps including very close friends", by the way it's used. "Amiga ohana", hm, I like that.

My idea would be to start getting ideas from the following link

A new term covering Amiga and Amiga-like technologies.

I just made a post to www.osnews.org which got me thinking. I feel the need for a term which covers Amiga technology without covering the current Amiga Inc./KMOS technolgy, AmigaDE, which is completely and totally technologically unrelated. What I mean is, a term to cover the computers/OSs that I would call Amigas, which are the classic Amiga's made by Commodore, any computer running AROS, any computer running UAE (whether or not under AROS), and any computer running Genesis's OS, but would exclude a computer running AmigaDE. Basically, any machine that can run Amiga software (at least from source). It's beginning to create a little family, similiar to the Unix world, where you have a lot of differnet teams around the world creating software which works similiarly, and runs the same software, more or less. In fact, in that world, there is a difference between saying UNIX, Unix, and unix, so someone, somewhere felt the need to make fine distinctions. The distinction I'm trying to convey is between machines that are running an Amiga or Amiga-like OS and machines which are not. For example, it would include Genesi's OS, and AROS, but only include an "Amiga One" if it were either running Amiga OS 4.0 or Linux/UAE running any classic Amiga OS. I guess this might sound rather trolly, but I am seriously looking for a technological term that I can use instead of "Amiga" to cover all these related projects, similar to "unix". Maybe "amiga" with a small "a"? Or "Amiga-work-a-likes" or "Amiga-likes" or something.

Any ideas?

Erik
