It looks like it could need more active developers

pm me your email and I send you the download-link. Will be official in a couple of days. Classact is not preinstalled but that you do yourself by using the 68k downloads from aminet.

Not really. The reimplementation of MUI as an open-source GUI called Zune has taken all the effort that can be mustered so far. Personally, I think neither Zune/MUI nor closed-source Reaction are the best solution but I'm not a GUI expert. We'll see what else comes out.

I do not know if that is enough. I am developing a distribution that is based on Aros 68k with lots of additions. One is Classact (68k version). Would that be of interest? It is Aros 68k + Kickstart Replacement together with (Win)UAE.

it is this version:

I was just excited to find a thread about this, and then disappointed that it sounds like AROS has no Reaction/Classact support at all.

My reason for wishing for such a thing? Until there is an OS4 laptop, it's very difficult for me to continue using Amiga stuff. I could run AROS on my laptop, in a virtual machine if needed. That could make it a portable and convenient tool for developing/testing stuff intended for OS4, and AROS getting a copy on the way. If I'm left to an eventual OS4 netbook, then that's where I'll probably stop.

Has anything on this changed since this thread ended a few years ago?

I don't think so, as MUI is not specific to MorphOS. But of course most of them prefer using MUI over Reaction.

MUI is not exclusive to MorphOS but it is integrated to the system and everything is based on MUI. It is something different than on other platforms.

Quote:

If an OS4 developer wants to port his application to MOS he doesn't want to switch GUI for this.

True. But it is also that from MorphOS user point of view Reaction applications are not desired because they dont integrate so well to the system i.e. they can not be iconified, they block WB screen changes, they are not commodities and other those little details which are built-in.

But I have to admit many love using Aweb on MorphOS still and they are also more light weight than their MUI counterparts (i.e. Aweb vs IBrowse).

Quote:

The number of programers having access to OS4 AND MOS at the same time will surely increase, now as OS4 for Classic is available

That is something I doubt. OS 3.5 and 3.9 were based on Reaction while I dont remember any application from that era. 3.5 and 3.9 must have sold more than 10000 copies in total yet I dont remember number of Reaction applications was increased at that time.

I only remember ZoneXplorer but only because it was ported to MorphOS. However probably there are now more new Reaction applications than before because it is the official GUI toolkit for OS4 and Reaction no longer looks like shit. In fact it looks quite neat now.

Quote:

An application I'd like to see on MOS is MindSpace. It works, but slowly. And there are issues with refreshing the map area which make it nearly unusable. Taht could be a problem with Reaction.

Personally I find Digital Universe more interesting, probably because it uses MUI :) When it comes to MindSpace I doubt it would work with OS4Emu because it looks being too complex application to run with ClassAct.

Quote:

Regarding TuneNet: Are you sure that it works with the latest *publically* available version of OS4Emu

I dont think the latest Tunenet runs anymore with OS4Emu. Last time I tried Tunenet it had problem with threads or pthreads library and that was it. But when it did work ClassAct was just fine and I listened to some streams with Tunenet few years ago.
