The reasons for not doing that are listed in the FAQ on aros.org, basically it's easier than it sounds. UAE can be used to run old Amiga stuff, but a proper native version of anything is much nicer

(note to self - go find a UAE .rc file ...)

It wouldn't be a problem to look for ports if someone would make AROS capable to run all the Amiga stuff...

If i'd know how is it possible to do that, i would do it myself. The only problem is, that i can't program...

Shame Personal Paint hasn't been open-sourced!

Ya, I know. But it wold be cool. Does anyone think that one of the others listed might be more portable? It does't have to be Gimp. Just curious.

The main issue about GIMP is you have to rebuild GTK+ on AROS too. I've heard that GTK+ is conceptually similar to MUI (ZUNE), so a conversion should be affordable. Anyway, I think it's lot of work and actual developers have already lot of work to bring AROS itself to an usable level, before thinking about heavy portings.

There isn't at the mo, mostly because there's some good photo editors available dirt cheap already (I use Art Effect 4, which can do most all of what PainshopPro 8 can do).

I don't think anyone's working on it either ...
