VmwAROS is standardized: uses custom directory paths on fixed volume names (every installation of vmwaros has sys: on DH0, cd-rom on CD1:, and so on), on a normal AROS installation my script should care of any customization made by users. For istance, CD player might be mounted on CD2:, sys: on TH0: or DH4:, and the "perfect" solution, using "SYS:" as a destination for file copy won't work if someone launches it from CD-Rom (I don't know why he should...). There will be problems too if someone will put only the kernel in Dh0 and then all other system files on another DXn: SFS partition... And it's not finished: I have also to do some further testing on new installation procedures, because of Extras: assign I don't know yet how it works exactly. So, in other word, please let me run it correctly on VmwAROS, and when I'm finished I will consider adaption for bare AROS.

Good first step for automating update proceses. Any reason why this won't work with regular AROS? It should be the same mechanism to input a newer ISO and gather all the files from it.

paolone,
thank you! That sounds very nice and solves the problem of the VM being out of date. It's clean, easy and very useful for vmwaros ( and it also bashes the current installer problem for vmwaros ;) ). Thx Manu

I preferred resolving the issue in another way. Just look at this:
