I have been thinking of setting up my machine to dual boot into WinXP and WinUAE for some time now.

Could you please tell me how you went about doing it? E.g. what bootloader did you use? Did you create startup script? Separate partition? etc. The more details the merier.

As an aside, the new PC I've been getting sorted for AROS is set to dual-boot into WinUAE (running directly as Windows' shell, over WinXP).

It's working flawlessly (broadband, 100Kbps ethernet, 32bit 1024x768 graphics, 16 bit sound, XP print handler, CD burning from MakeCD etc). Running CPU intensive operations is way above '060 speed, certainly better than an 'ultimate' classic Amiga could be.

TBH I'm going to be happy with this for a good while, and have put off my own plans to get an A1/Peg for the forseable future (I was down to pricing up cases etc), and will be getting a new Catweasel when they're available.

A well specced Micro A1 or Pegasos both worked out at £800, for what I wanted, by the way ... this PC has cost me £70 all in

With a $100 rebate, Dell has a $699 laptop that looks pretty tempting.

It all depends on what software you want to run!

Another point is that there isn´t a sure future for either company so it´s a what you see is what you get buy.
Future features is just that, in the very uncertain future.

I have been leaning towards MOS/PegII for almost a year now but haven´t bought one yet. There is always other stuff that comes in between.

Go for the Pegasos...

P.S. If you buy the board and build your own it is alot less than $1000.

For $1K, buy something more useful, like a laptop.

I havent tried an A1 with OS4 yet but i do have a Peg with MorphOS and have had since late 2002! for me it feelt like a natural upgrade from my A4000T/060/OS3.9 and now i could have never "downgraded" to using the Amiga anymore its just way to slow and lacks things im used to in MorphOS! if you dont care about the name thing get one as its a really neat system (allthough MorphOS needs more work to compete with major OSes like Wintendo) + its cheaper then the A1.

You have to sell millions to get the price down. A1/PegII won't break 1000.

What I would like to see is a carrier board for the IBM PPC970/FX that allowed it to be plugged into a cheap PC mobo. Get the best of both worlds that way.

Imagine sticking a G5 into a motherboard designed around the AMD64... now THAT is a killer PPC system. Way cheaper than making your own too.

Of course, depending on how things go, it's probably cheaper to just buy a G5 Mac. I don't know why OS4 or MorphOS haven't bothered with Mac compatibility. AROS might be the first AOS compatible OS on the Mac at this rate.

BPlan's biggest 2 purchasers of Pegasos boards so far have been Freescale (Motorola's processor spinoff) and Sony Europe.

Eyetech's largest purchasers lined up for the micro A1s are involved with information booths and stuff like that.

I would doubt if any of these knows or cares about the Amiga.

This is a $40 mobo + $100 CPU, all for the LOW LOW price of $775!!! WOW!!! I should buy three or four of them!

The problem is that there is very low volume, so you're getting a cheap product at inflated prices.

The A1 and PegI are even worse deals as the are throw-away mobos with an even cheaper CPU. Maybe $50 worth of computer parts total for an outrageous price. The only reason they sell any of these things are Amiga fanatics with too much spare cash.
