I agree completely.

I would be happy to see Ethernet and SATA in the main bounty.

IMO, SND should be a seperate bounty. SATA, OTOH, being mission critical, should remain within the porting bounty. Since that particular SATA controller is going to be hard to find outside of SAM440, it wouldn't really make too much sense making it a seperate bounty. IMO, it's too rare of a beast. AFAIK, each SATA controller family has to be supported seperately. PITA

IBM_EMAC (NIC) could be a seperate bounty, but it's almost as critical as SATA support. Add in the mobo is going to be very rare, it's more then likely the same AROS Dev who did the port will be asked to do the NIC support as well. YMMV

@damocles

This looks good from my perspective!
This would leave us with graphics, ethernet and USB above and beyond the basic SAM440 port.

I guess we would need SATA, and sound in that order as separate bounties?

SATA is a worth while bounty for the whole of AROS, right?
I imagine Nusim would definitely support a SATA bounty.

How does this look?

----------------------------

Native port of AROS to the SAM440 platform shall:
1. AROS Core
2. AROStcp and IBM Emac driver)
3. Develope support for Silicon Image 3114 controller

Hardware included for this bounty: SAM440

CTO or anyone who really knows the hardware would be fine to have here or on TeamAROS ml or AROS Dev ml. I would like to get the final wording of the bounty wrapped up by this weekend so the bounty can go live.

ACubes' CTO should be dropping by either here or the TeamAros ML shortly.

It would be helpful if you could get one of the Acube engineers to either subscribe to the AROS Dev ML or to reply to post here on AE.

Am I right in thinking that existing drivers (Thanks, Dr. Schulz!) will cover the graphics and USB.

I don't think sound is covered.

I think we definitely need the ethernet and SATA (but then AROS needs this, anyway).

Sounds interesting. What NIC does the SAM board have?

A quick search gives me this:

Linux: ibm_emac

FreeBSD: if_emac

I think there are two IBM PowerPC 4xx on-chip ethernet controllers on board the 440EP.
