Staf, are you sure?

No, in fact I'm thinking I'm becoming crazy

I just checked myself, and both AHI's and nlist's sources are there, under the contrib directory, in the AROS core sources.

It seems I downloaded the snapshot version not the nightly build.

In any case, by looking at the error message the OP posted, I don't see any references to either AHI or nlist, I just see some proto files not being generated, which suggests that the respective metatarget is not invoked as it should, which again suggests that there's a missing dependency.

Although this was of course the first thing I checked it seems I overlooked it workbench includes are not forced to be built before the datatypes includes.
The following diff should fix it.

Time to take a break.

I now downloaded the core source code from the FTP site and compared it with a fresh checkout and it seems that the scripts are not adapted for the new necessary parts. E.g. the AHI sources and the nlist sources are missing in these files. This has to be solved in the build scripts. Fabio ?

I think you see the difference now... I don't have CVS access so I use the nightly snapshots off the main AROS downloads page. Thanks for looking into it so quickly. I appreciate it. I've been on an AROS jag here recently, and not being able to compile the latest stuff was irritating.

I did a build from a fresh checkout without any problems. I did the following:
% cvs checkout AROS
% cd AROS
% cvs checkout necessary
% configure
% make
And it build everything whithout a complaint. So what is the difference between this and what you are doing ?

So far, I've figured out the best way to compile the nightly snapshot: unarc the core source, ./configure (options), make, then unarc the contribs source, copy to contribs drawer, make development-SDL_mixer, make, make default-x11keymaptable. The make SDL_mixer was a recent change made to the procedure which I found out here from whoever made the changes.

Any idea what the difference could be to your local machine and the nightly build system ?

The nightly build machine doesn't do a fresh checkout of the CVS tree each time, it simply updates. That might be the relevant difference. My guess is that some dependencies are missing, and the nightly build works only because, by chance, some targets are executed before some others.

Sounds like whoever's working on that section making those changes effecting wb needs to do a complete checkout and build themselves to see how they're affecting the build, then correct the problem. No, I haven't tried 'make kernel-workbench-includes' because that isn't in the (manual) build instructions. I follow the instructions published and used since the very beginning - do ./configure with a few options, then do make. If that doesn't work, someone broke something or they need to update the instructions.

I have the same problem, with a fresh repertory, but in utility_init.c.
(after a "cvs checkout AROS" then "necessary")
