Yeah, a "Rhine II? driver would probably be the best first port of call since it supports the largest number of VIA (and other manufacturers) chips.

Most of the VIA systems I've seen use the VIA VT6102 Rhine II for 10/100, or the Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5705 for gigabit ethernet. The choice of controller for gigabit ethernet might be more MSI than VIA... guess we'll have to wait for more responses on this.
